i'd like to throw in my .02. don't fuck around. it's a shitty job so get good parts so you only have to do it once. i spent a weekend beating the old ones out with a hammer because every clamp i got would buckle. if you have a friend with a press, buy him beer. The spicer carrier bearing is stamped as toyota. get that one. get spicer GREASABLE u joints and give them a little grease when you change your oil

This was exactly what I was searching for! Definitely was searching to figure out what the difference was in the part numbers. I assumed it had to do with the zerk placement. I plan on going with the Spicer 5-1330-1X, although, I don't offroad. Any problem with the zerk fitting being on the end cap rather than the body? I have heard that the body is a better placement for the zerk fitting as the grease travels better throughout all 4 trunion ends rather than the end cap where it seems to travel only to 2 of the trunion ends more easily. Any thoughts on this?? Thanks for the help!

I'm curious, do you remember how much play you had in your carrier bearing? I am getting some vibration under my seat while driving. Usually around 40 mph, and then again at higher speeds 60-80 mph. I recently had my frame replaced under recall by Toyota and it looks like they replaced my driveshaft, which came with new u-joints. For some reason, I don't think they replaced the carrier bearing, which is weird. There seems to be quite a bit of play in the rubber boot around the carrier bearing. Maybe a 1/2 inch of play give or take. Thanks for any help!

I had my driveshaft out recently. I left the carrier alone. There was a little bit of play but it spun nice and freely. I used Moog 270 ujoints. Supposedly a more durable version. There's also a cheaper Moog ujoint available. Could only find spicer at the dealer here and too much money. I did notice Amazon had OEM carrier for like $100 which is way better than the dealer who wanted $330 plus tax... So give amazon a look. That was for my 2.7L... does the 6 cylinder use a different driveshaft?

I think we may have different driveshafts, but I would need to check. Mine is the same as the 2nd Gen 4WD 6 cylinder for my prerunner. I also have an extended bed, but I don’t think that changes the driveshaft though.

I found really good deals on rockauto.com. $20 per Spicer greasable u-joint and $46.99 for the carrier bearing/center support. $120 total shipped for 3 new u-joints plus the carrier bearing. Not bad!

I just received my center support bearing from Rock Auto. The new rubber bushing is stamped with Toyota 37230-0K040, which looks to be an OEM part. This is the same code on my original center support bearing bushing that I just removed. I believe Toyota uses the Dana/Spicer bearing as well. The part number through Rock Auto is 5002334. It was only $46.99!! I will be installing this weekend, but hopefully shouldn't run into any issues as the part looks exactly the same as my original part. I have a 2009 Tacoma Prerunner. I believe there is a different part number for the 4wd Tacos from what I was reading. I think the code reads Toyota 37230-0K030 (on the rubber bushing portion) for the 4wd, which is a sealed bearing from what I have read? Can anyone verify this or know if this is correct?

I"d never go cheap on U Joints. Get OEM quality. MATSUBA is who supplies for Toyota or just buy from the dealer.
