if you're lucky you might find someone selling stock flares because they replaced them with bushwackers. I got a set cheap a few years ago because I completely lost one on the freeway.

i thought of that too. i just would rather not butcher my stocks. may never change them back either. just didnt want to spend a grand at the dealer if i ever go back down a size.

https://www.tacomaworld.com/search/12862145/?q=Bushwhacker&t=post&o=date&c[thread]=285871 Dig around in here. I’m probably gonna have to cross this bridge one day. I didn’t the first time because I didn’t have the time and didn’t know what I know now. I’ve had one of mine come flying off on the freeway and was lucky and found it laying in the grass on the way home from work. I go through the little buttons every now and again. If they get a little loose by the time I get home the buttons are shot. I have extra screws underneath and now zip ties keeping them attached. I think a Cheapo set of knock off that are bolted on would be way better. I don’t think it would be a huge deal to take them off before I left for some tight trails. I like the look and have zero rubs but it’s an added maintenance keeping those bastards on. If I had a pavement princess I would just trim the bottom corners and smash the pinch weld and mold the inner liner with heat. That would probably cover 98% of the rubbing for a daily that might see some pot holes.

Time for a snow run. I just got about 2-3 inches overnight. To make it more fun, I have my 4x8 utility trailer attached to my truck. Both the truck and trailer are loaded with a mix of maple and oak that is going to become firewood. My truck tires I keep at 80 psi. They showed yesterday that they had a bit of weight on when I finished loading the trailer.

On an Elocker diff does anyone know what the name of the sensor or have a part #. Mine got smashed while being shipped and I need to get one ordered but can’t find it.

It's the same as the manual trans reverse position sensor. Lemme see what I can find real quick

Sensor on the rear diff that detects if the carrier is locked or unlocked. It's just a detent ball switch that when unlocked it creates an open circuit with the ball in the open position, then when the locker engages the shift fork causes the ball to press inward closing the electrical circuit and illuminating the locker light on the dash.

@Shadowhunter NAPA Pt# NS6421. Its a neutral safety/reverse light switch found on many toyotas and is exactly the same as the 84222-12010. Retail price is $35.99

Retail toyota price is $70+. This is a pretty common switch, used in the manual trans trucks, also in the transfer cases, and even the front diff. Not just toyota trucks/suvs but also lexus vehicles including passenger cars also.

Thanks! I’m planning on wiring up my actuator to my Switch Pro. So my guess is I don’t need it and just leave it in to plug in the hole.

I mean if you don't want an idiot light to alert you that it's engaged that's a free option. It's only purpose is to let you know when it's locked or unlocked.

I don’t think I’m gonna get that crazy wiring it up. The little orange indicator light above the button on the Switch Pro should be sufficient.

As screwy as it is, call around to different toyota dealerships. Some places mark stuff up ridiculously.
I had a company truck (ford f150) that the driveline carrier wore out on. I first took it to les schwab, they said they can only do bolt on. Then I took it to the shop Schwab would use for pressed on carriers, and they told me the driveline section had to be replaced as a whole. My company told me that it then had to go through a ford dealership. The first one I called was almost $1000 for just the part. The other local dealership I called was just over $1000 for the part and labor, but definitely cheaper at the second dealership.

    Edit
@Shadowhunter I looked up the part at Rockauto and it is $12

93BFF1F8-220D-455D-8350-5B6B3A24E1F4.jpg I’m swapping in an off road rear into my Sport. I just got the diff back from ECGS and noticed the sensor is smashed. I don’t think need a dash light. I have a guy that says he can build a wiring harness straight to my Switch Pro.

Has anyone run up to Lost Lake from Keechelus? Just finally found some of those roads back in there and wanting to run back there next year. Curious about if it’s just a standard FS road or a bit more technical.

yep seems valid we were just poking around the area and see that to be true. Fiancé still has street tires, never driven in snow and no recovery gear so was still an interesting challenge lol. We thought about stampede pass but because had nothing no only one rig wanted to play it safe.

TRD off-road pumpkin in a Sport axle? Doesn’t fit (unless you’re going to extensively rework the flange, studs and diff cover). Or do you have the off-road axle housing too?

edit: I hooked my switch up to the cluster when I ditched my worn out off-road axle for an SR5 one with 4.10 and installed my Harrop locker. Point is, you don’t need the sensor to make the dash light work, just gonna lose the flashing function

I'm pretty sure he's doing the whole housing.
