bhlm: all show and no go?

been lookin at this mod for myself. doesnt the bhlm decrease the lights ability to cast a beam or be seen to some degree? it may not be huge but i wonder if theres a honest diff from stock since yer removing a large portion of the reflective area. those of you with testing equip can answer this best rather than subjective opinion. sure, it looks super nice and all but i gotta wonder if its kinda like clear tail light lenses that are so damn hard to see from behind. all the cool import kids have em but theyre totally non functional. discuss...

 

The part of the reflector that outputs light isn't painted. Just the chrome surrounding that. You might lose a little tiny bit of reflectivity...but the light coming from the bulb doesn't strike the surfaces that are painted for the BHLM.

 

Exactly what he said, no light output lost and they look a lot better than stock! Form and function, win-win.

 

I haven't done this mod yet, but it was mentioned to me by someone that has, that they painted the reflective part of the DRL/blinker (which seems to be really common from what I have seen), and regretted it. After seeing it in person, I will definitely not paint that part when I do mine, as there was a significant decrease in light output of the DRL (there wasn't much light output at all, rather more of just a glowing bulb). Something to keep in mind anyway for those that plan to do it.

Absolutely! I think the BHLM looks good against some colors, it depends on what else you've done to the truck. Your SWB ones gave me the idea, then I found another truck here that had them done in white and I was sold!
