My rivets did not come out so easy. I first cut the heads off then tried using my big air hammer to knock them out, which didn't work for any but 1. I bought the drill bits (1/4" and 1/2") with my HH order and ended up using them to drill into the rivet then knocking them out. If you need to do it this way don't drill all the way through the rivet just far enough that you are about the same depth as the frame is thick, then they knocked out easy. I did this install twice now, once on my 2018 that I saved the OEM hangers and then reinstalled them when I traded for my 2020. On my 2020 I cut the OEM hangers off (didn't plan on ever using them again) to make it easier to get to the bottom rivets. Didn't find it necessary to remove the leaf springs to do the job but it would have made it a little easier. It's not a hard job for 1 person, took me about 4 hours my first time an about 3 hours my second time.

Another tip once you remove the stock hangers clean and paint the area if the frame needs it. I also put fluid film on the frame and hangers before installing to help mitigate rust.

Yep that's one of the few downsides to living in WI, the absolute hell vehicles go through due to winter road treatments. I've been through two winters and haven't had that extensive of rust, thankfully. The most significant area so far was on the front of the LCAs.

Worst case scenario, I'll just have to keep making pipeline trips to build up coats of mud - that'll do the trick, I'm sure.

I know a few people down here who have a protective coating of Tennessee clay that gets refreshed every year.

This strategy seems to be backfiring on my sliders. I have top plates, and there is rust forming in the corners underneath where the tube meets the plate. :(

I'll clean it up as good as possible and repaint it. If it happens again, I might just remove the plates.:notsure:

Thanks for the input fellas! I think It shouldn't be too bad, I have taken my rear apart several times recently, so I may go that route and clean up that area before winter comes!

I’m trying out this PB blaster corrosion stop. Seems to stay pretty sticky and doesn’t wash off easily.

I’ve only had it on one winter so far and it seems to be holding up well.

I recently gave the truck a good pressure washing underneath and it didn’t wash off.
Granted I was using the 40deg nozzle from a distance as to not push water into anything sensitive.

Finally got around to putting some video together.
I definitely need to work on my vlogging and putting together a narrative via video.
