Hey MD did you ever figure out how to get rid of that RPM dip in 4th?

Mine feels different. I expect it will settle down again as learn values adjust

I don't see anything in the work instructions for resetting the LVs. Just a DTC check before and after the replacement.

True though that the ECU might adjust things based on the fuel pressures that it sees.

Ok guys. This vf noob needs help. How do I unlock a new ECU ID? I have 04B31 unlocked but now need to unlock 04B33. Is that possible with the latest update? I'm on 1.2.7.0 New credits are available in vf.
And has anyone dived into 04B33 in vf yet? Seems like a great runway to take off from.
    Thanks nerds! :D:cheers:

Just attempt to open the 04B33 Stock file, or any other 04B33 file. It will ask you many times if you want to spend those credits.

    I'm going with dork.

Always ready for a new updated tune to run AJ my man. Currently been running the newest mild + wild tune and do like it alot. But everything I feel just keeps getting better and better as things progress so its hard to determine a fav. Tune at the moment. Are we still waiting on the performance tune from mat?

Yea I don’t think they reset LVs on me, the change would be more significant. But seems possible that the new pump will flow slightly more or less so things need to re settle in.

Either that or I’m imagining things again. Such are the pitfalls of tuning by butt dyno.

Technically even at full advance the intake valve is closing after the compression stroke starts, so it is always running atkinson cycle from my view. And I agree atkinson isnt necessarily the bogeyman its made to be. Otto, atkinson, brayton, carnot, whatever. As long as it makes the torque I want when I want it.

OVTune previously hinted that there are more VVT maps we don’t yet have access to that will get you to full advance. I did also note the same observation that 27.839 is really 30 when logged.

How do you know it can advance 45 degrees in 50 milliseconds?

Going to throw this question out. Does anyone know the advantage or dis-advantage of allowing the TC unlocking gear S2 in 4-6. I seem to recall it is for TC partial lock. I currently have my 4-6 gear S2 set to 255.999. Shifting is good and all seems well. The trans temps are staying with in spec.
Just curious if there are any advantages. Thx

Think of the TC unlock S maps as the maps that allow your truck to fully unlock ONLY if your TC is partially locked. But if the unlock S maps are all set to 256 then you're overriding the partial lock maps completely anyway. I've found just about zero need for partial locking and I've been running around without it for a while. The only benefit I could see is that its easier on the TC to go from partial lock to full lock rather than unlock to lock.

That's kinda what I thought but wanted to toss it out there. I really like the way the truck currently drives/shifts. Don't really want to mess with more maps to possibly have to go down that rabbit hole again. With hundreds of changes and flashes. :) Thx

What do you feel is lacking yet? How many miles do you have on it? I hit just over 300. Most I've gotten on a tune yet :cookiemonster: the longer I was on it the smoother things became.

I thought about messing with the intake VVT table too and raise the timing in the atkinson zone but then I found the ignition compensation table when in atkinson. Looks like timing is advanced during the low-mid range at low RPM, I'm assuming to make up for less air/fuel in the cylinders. If you advance the intake in that range you'll likely be introducing more air/fuel but not compensating with lowering the timing compensation. Just something to be aware of if you start messing with it... @OVTune could probably shed more light on that.

So I raised TC unlocking speed to 85 in 100 columnsupload_2020-11-11_23-44-0.jpg

Went for test and still no joy.
Speed was 75.8-78 mph, accelerator 37-43 % . I need to wrap my head around this. I may need to raise to 120 , then if my math is correct, 43 accelerator would be around 77 mph. It should unlock if I below 77. Correct?

The earliest the intake valve can close is 25° ABDC (after bottom dead center); the latest is 105°. That's 80°; but, the map only goes from 0 to 69.599 (0° to 75° actual). So, I don't know if 0 in the map is 105° or 100° ABDC and if 69.599 (75°) is 30° or 25° ABDC.

The last Tacoma V6 without VVT closed intake at 42° ABDC... always. Air is still flowing in at BDC; so, you get more if you leave it open for a bit. (The previous V6 VVT delayed up to 60° ABDC.)

I just tested some lower numbers in the 15% column and the 850 rpm row (and reverted some of the OV numbers back to stock). Everything ran fine. Unfortunately, at 0% accelerator it doesn't use this table... it's always 30°. So, yes, it sounds like there are more tables.

As @ForceOfG of mentioned, it probably would be ideal to re-tune the ignition timing to the valve angle. I'll add that the direct injection timing also appears to be tuned to the VVT angle. (But, both of these OV tables are unchanged from stock, so... I guess it's not that important?)

I have seen in one of my logs a ~45° change in ~50 ms for the intake VVT. That's probably faster than you can stomp the accelerator from 0 to 100%.

Yeah, you didn't breach the threshold to trigger the unlock.

And yes, looks like your math is correct for 120.
