I think deep down inside, OP really wants a Ridgeline, and is looking for validation on their upcoming purchase.

I want to sell an item but they are requiring me to have at least 50 post, interesting. Will this count as 1 post.

I chose a Tacoma for two main reasons: durability and resale value. If I was going for other qualities I would have chosen another brand.

I wouldn't push my luck. Post padding has earned a ban for many people. Your counter might read 50, but if the majority of that came from posts like "+1," "this," or "I'ma just here to raise my count," the mods will not be sympathetic nor merciful to your cause.

On a personal note, I tend to have a lot more luck on craigslist than I do here. Jus sayin'

Well you can legitimately say that the Gladiator has quality and reliability issues - I drove several Jeeps for weeks in Puerto Rico and they literally shook apart under us - but you can't say that a 4 door solid axle pickup "makes no sense" or has no place in the market, etc. If Toyota had a similar rig here we would all cream our jeans. It's all fantasy though, and that's what the importers are for - to scratch that fantasy Toyota itch. Don't complain about how Toyota doesn't make your dream truck, then pay $40K for a Tacoma that is woefully inadequate in your eyes, while you could have spent half that and gotten a variety of trucks that are exactly what you say you would buy, if you only could. Well, you can. So go do it, or "hesh up".

I’ve felt the same I pulled the trigger on a 19 off road but I am starting to second guess the purchase. The vehicle is great but is there a better option upcoming in the future or even now?

I've always wondered how Toyota decides what features to include/exclude on certain models. Either way I love the 4Runners. We actually just picked up a 2021 Limited for my wife this past weekend. The new gauge cluster, head unit, safety sense, and LED head lights were nice upgrades. We're hoping to keep this one for awhile and maybe when she's ready to upgrade again, the 6th gen will have been out for a couple of years or so and have all the bugs worked out.

you will more than likely end up getting your post count reset and possibly a short ban for making posts like this, just a heads up

Toyota has NEVER been a market leader in 'new' technology or cutting-edge configurations. If you are THAT serious about crawling, build your own. That is the best way to go anyway.

    I can answer this:
Toyota decides what features to go with by working with dozens of focus groups, made up of real existing and perspective customers from every target demographic that would or could buy their products.
In other words, all of us decide what Toyota offers in their vehicles.

    Damn, fellas.

This thread reminds me of a rant that my grandad often repeated. He used to say "the more money and the more choices we have, the less happy we are. In my youth we had nothing, our shoes were literally falling off our feet, we didn't have two nickels to rub together, we constantly wondered where our next meal was coming from, and yet somehow we were happy. We had neighbors we could rely on. Some days we had a chicken we could share, some days they could somehow scratch up a loaf of bread. But we were happy. Now I got a big house with 500 channels piped in and I'm constantly pissed off about it. Why is my mercedes the v8 and not the v12? Why don't I have 600 channels? I travel overseas and see a bunch of villagers living in grass huts, sitting bare-balls-to-the-dirt, and what are they doing? singing songs and sharing stories. Scratching up a meal out of nothing. And they're happy! Every bit as happy as we were in the dust bowl days. I'll never understand why, but the more shit you have, the less happy you'll be. If you want to know true happiness, you have to be dirt poor."

And here we are, with the ability to buy our choice of 100 different flavors of pickup truck, and we're whining that none of the flavors are good ones. Damn, I guess grandad's lunatic ranting was right all along.

Exactly. Look up suicide rates by income. Those with less are much happier than those folks with more.

But aren't the pentastar jeep engines known as very reliable? I see those damn things running pretty damn well. I never owned one tho.

All in all, the only reason Im considering a gladiator is because I could then drive around the beach with no doors or roof...then I look at the price tag...I just saw a used one with 24k miles going for $50K

The Fords wont be as reliable. My BIL has had to have the transmission in his F250 replaced. He went and bought and Excursion. It's on it's second transmission. My buddy has a Ford Transit. The turbo has grenaded three times now. The second time was due to the tech something wrong and he ended up with an entirely new top-end the third time. Yeah, it's still under warranty, but they've both ended up stranded. My BIL was in Oklahoma, and my buddy was just about to cross the border into the Baja for a month long vacation.

I think Ford is making some fantastic vehicles right now, but the build quality just isn't there.
