After 5 months of waiting, my tent finally came in. We took a trip out to Linville Gorge this weekend and camped on 1238. Managed to get a site on the gorge side which was awesome.

holy shit people can't drive in the rain...you would have thought it was a white out blizzard this morning. meanwhile I'm cruising at the speed limit because I'm not scared. You get in my way in the left lane with your hazards on you get quad high beams and a pair of XL80's in your face. That'll make you GTFO

Yea wtf is up with that? I drove to SC during the last tropical storm and it was full on stupidity on 321. Great if you want to drive slow, pull over! And WTF is with people in NC wanting to drive right next to you? No ones else on the highway, bucketing down rain and some ass driving right next to me for 10miles in the rain while I'm in the right lane.

It’s for safety. If we hit a patch of water and skid sideways the car next to us will prevent us from skidding too far left or right. This safety maneuver is reciprocal and it’s common courtesy to match speed with your “highway buddy.” Dont they teach this in IL Drivers Ed?:D

With my tacoma I see how close I can drift over towards them before they speed up or slow down. Doesn't work very good in a car tho. Or I speed up and just pull over in front of them. I have to be on good behavior since I still have my out of state plates, and my husband me address is still a house that I no longer own...
They do, but IL is the last state to use as a benchmark for good drivers LOL!!! There the right lane is the fast lane and the left lane has evreyone doing the speed limit or under.

It does seem like the further south you go the worse drivers get.

I lived in New Orleans for 3 years and up until that point I’d never seen a cop get in an accident, saw it twice there. My insurance tripled when I moved there, on a ‘94 Nissan Hardbody pickup with bare minimum coverage through some no-name “Cajun Bill’s Swampy Insurance” type company was $125/mo.

I used to get mad when my mother-in-law, from upstate NY, referred to NC drivers as “these damn people down here” then I found myself doing the same thing in Louisiana.

My first time driving in houston I almost rear ended a guy while going 70 on an on ramp leaving the airport trying to merge. He stopped at the end of the on ramp to wait for an opening, I was checking my blindspot, looked forward to brake lights and went around him on the shoulder. It went downhill from there LOL. That place is insanity if you have never driven there, not much scares me driving, but I was freaking the hell out there.

I travel with work a good bit, well I did before the ‘rona, 10 years I’ve only ever wrecked one rental car. It was in Houston at some funky on ramp to the highway/those side roads the go beside the highway in TX. Guy clipped the front of my van, looked and sped off. Houston is a damn mess.

You guys in the area with tents, awnings..etc. Do yall leave that stuff on year round or take it off/put it on seasonally?

I pulled my awning off today in between down pours to dry out and store away. Got Uwharrie trip planned in Dec and another Ft.Fisher trip planned before years end but wont be needing the awning so i took it off. Didnt see any need for extra wear and tear.

I don’t have an awning, but I do take my RTT off each time if I know I’m not camping next weekend. It’s only about 3-5 minutes to take off or put back on for me, but mine is on bed bars, so it is easy to slide up the back and slide down

I'll die a happy man if I never have to step foot in that town again. My previous company wanted to transfer me there and I threatened to quit, that ended that discussion haha

This picture taken at your house? If so, I swear I thought that was you. I know exactly where this was taken and I see your truck there quite often when I have to drive that God Forsaken road...
