We're actually boiling pretty early. Usually we wait until after seasons over so we get a bunch of heads and do them all at once.

I feel it. We've been having spotty storms. 1 week of cold, one week in the 50's. Its been nice to hunt the cold snaps though.

It was way to warm here.
I heard some thunder and got the hell off the stand.
Deer aren’t moving through my section like they did last year during the day.
    Still time..

I had 2 and also 3 yearlings feeding on red oak acorns 10 FEET from my ground blind this year, one for over 25 minutes!!! I use skunk scent on a couple of old jacket epiletts on each side of the ground blind and nothing else. Used to smoke like a chimney while hunting too and never had an issue spooking deer. Granted these aren't the 5-6 year old deer, but I also hunt where humans and human scent are common, so that helps.

Split wood again after work today. Now it's time to get serious and hunt. My Dad always finds projects to do around the cabin but season ends next Friday. Trying to make Dad happy and hunt at the same time can be difficult. He always smiles when I hand him a side of back strap!

Your pile is a little off.
Might want to tidy it up a bit there on the end.

I use to spend a lot more time where I hunt and did not buy into scent control when I walked the land regularly. Now I care more because I hunt state property as my first choice... it’s usually virgin and hasn’t been walked in months when I get there - and I worry I leave my pets scent where I walk.

if I hunt the family property I still use scent control, but hadn’t for years like I said - because I spent weeks each summer/fall walking, working and hunting it.... so felt the deer were use to my smells.

I wash my hunting clothes in baking soda and use unscented (Sure) deodorant. I always hunt with the wind in my face and hate calm/light and variable wind days. I figure if the wind is in your face and a deer gets behind you, you're pretty much screwed. This dink was upwind at 12 yards today.

Yep, hunt into the wind and save your money for better things, like those emails I've been getting recently about real problems...
