The first member to reach out and proceed with this was from Canada, so it was the first try out for this.

I think there will be less of a headache to bring it to the US. It is just the problem of getting one member in your locale that is trustworthy enough to receive all the skid plates.

I'm interested in one as well. Don't really need it for the added protection but so I don't have to drop my stock one to change my oil. And it looks better.

I got an OEM one but these can be had from Alina for a $130. Me and a few others got blasted for buying the rigid industries knock off lights. Get ready, just saying. They look nice.

I think that was more of an issue with it ripping off Rigid Industries. A larger majority don't seem to mind copies of Toyota's stuff.

That $130 price tag plus the $200+ oversized UPS shipping cost.

I didn't read it as such, anyhow it doesn't bother me at all. I say do what you can. My friend got the Alibaba one for $160 shipped and it's identical to my oem pro skid. Even the letters were perfect, keep in mind there may be some levels of quality like in the lights. Hope it works out for everyone who gets one.

Anyone planning to use this as a real skidplate? Or is this just about some undercarriage jewelry? I would be real hesitant about it being bashed on.

Good question. I've started doing some fire roads and trails around my area so I am looking to actually upgrade my thin stock plate for something better that will also protect more (my truck is not an Off Road, so doesn't even have the lousy stock transmission plate). Maybe a genuine Toyota one would be worth the money in terms of protection vs the knock off. Anybody know if they are the same thickness/material?

Thickness would probably be the same. I would be more concerned about the integrity of the aluminum. The heat treat and where it would fall in the Rockwell scale (hardness). Like knock off knives they can look identical. But in the steel lays the truth or in this case in the aluminum. Cheap crap.

If it's like the OEM, it's 1/4 inch thick and can take decent hits. It's light, but scars easily. Best used for those that want oops protection and otherwise go around and avoid objects that may cause damage.

To some, the access panel for the filter alone is worth the cost.

My bet is that it is brittle AF. Even more so than the OEM aluminum.

The Faux skid plate is 1/4" in thickness.
Yesterday for oil change and tire rotation, I was able to jack up the truck pretty high up on the skid plate's jack point without it bending or buckling due to the weight.

Are the TRD letters curved, or peeling up? For what you get and the price I don’t think the faux skid can be beat

Oh yeah about that, when I installed them, I actually missed/forgot to add the double sided tape to them. I just clipped them in and thought that was how it was suppose to be. Didn't see the tape in the packaging until after I installed the skid plate.

So they are just hanging there buy the tabs.

I could push the tabs out through the access panel, and apply some mounting tape, but it didn't bother me too much to go and fiddle with it. Also was lazy to crawl under it again.
