KO2's have to be the ugliest tire ever made. I have always had an irrational hatred for them.

I know some of you have bought from there before. Did you experience any problems in placing an order? Any insights?

 

Yes, they are clearly having issues right now; I can't sign in to the site either (I thought maybe signing in would give a different experience).

Also, just FYI, you want Package #2, not Package #1; there isn't quite enough BXT in package 1 for an extended cab.

 

Ok, thought I was going crazy.

Package 2 is a 50% increase in both BXT and Ensolite. Were you short that much on both?

I was thinking package 1 because I was under the impression that it contained enough. I was going by a discussion I read between Monte and Jordan. @Blackdawg @Madjik_Man

 

I think I used Package #2 as well, but it was enough for 100% coverage on the floor, doors, extracab portion, and the rear wall. I had a little left over, but I also didn't do the roof. So you could probably get 90%+ coverage on everything if you included the roof.

According to the installation write up on the Raam Audio website, it's not really necessary for that kind of coverage. I went the "more is better" route.

 

I can’t remember what package I bought but I bought one pack of BXT II, 20 sheets, 37.5 sq ft and 3 running yards of PS Ensolite, 42 sq ft.

That was more than enough to do the rear wall, rear quarter panel, and two doors. Plus I have some Ensolite leftover.

Putting raammat and Ensolite on your floors yields very little returns. The yield you get from raammat is stiffening up otherwise very resonant panels. Our floors are already very stiff due to the bracing, seats bolted to it, etc.

Best material for floor would be mass loaded vinyl to cut down on those types of frequencies.

 

I wasn't planning to do the roof. I primarily want to cover the doors and extra cab panels and see how much material is left after that. Might do some of the floor, especially the back seat floor area. I already have some mat (not raammat) on the back panel that I put there when I removed the rear seats and interior to make a little more room for the refrigerator.

Thanks. This is what I remember reading. And what you described is the contents of what is listed for their package 1.

 

Doing the back wall and doors will make the largest difference. Then the area by the extended cab. Then the roof.

And then if you're really up for it pulling the dash and everything and the fire wall.


Then MLV for the floor.

 

Sounds like their package 1 should be enough for my needs. Now just gotta be patient until their website is back functioning correctly.

 

I could have used about 6-8 extra sheets to more fully cover the floor with BXT. Everything else was pretty well covered. Package 1 had plenty of foam.

I covered the roof (though I have the sunroof), rear wall, quarter panels, doors...well, you can see it all in the write-up, hahahaha. Note that I essentially had 2 layers on the doors, as I was following their instructions on the web site, where they use the BXT as weather seal as well.

Oh, and I should mention that I notice quite a bit of difference with the roof being done. Rain is much less audible, especially on the highway.

 

The roof is tin foil and moves SO much. I'd do it for sure.

I remember laughing my ass off in high school after putting my subs in and watching the roof just bounce like crazy. hahaha

 

Well it looks like I wont be using RAAMmat. Got an email from Rick McCallium saying he can no longer get it made and has none to sell.

 

I am curious about the Ensolite you got from RAAMmat.

Was it peel and stick?
Did it come in a roll? How wide is the roll?
How thick is it? 1/4". 1/8"?

Did he go into detail as to why? Is it due to shipping issues with covid or are they just done doing business?

I was considering doing this sometime soon and planned to go with Raammat as well.

 

I am not sure of the exact reasons. I had written to him saying the website wasn't allowing me to place an order. Here is the response I got:

Sorry buddy, bad news, 20+ years of helping my fellow enthusiasts has come to and end due to not being able to get more RAAMmat manufactured for me.
