My wife is due in 6 weeks with our second child. We also have an almost 2 year old son who is still rear facing. Currently he has a Graco 4ever that fits rear facing in the back on the passenger side with no issues (my wife is 5'0) so leg room is not an issue. My son is not ready to switch to FF as he is only 22 pounds and the recommendation is rear facing until 40 pounds. But we are unsure how fitting 2 rear fitting car seats in the back is going to work in the Tacoma.

We have the Graco Snug Ride Click connect for the infant seat with 2 bases so we'd prefer to keep that for the infant carrier but we are looking for another slimmer fit rear facing toddler seat. Currently looking at the Graco Slim Fit and the Diono.

Has anyone been able to fit both a Snug ride and either a Graco Slim Fit car seat or a Diono car seat both rear facing side by side in a double cab TAcoma?

Would love to see some pictures of what configurations work best?

    Thanks in advance!

We just got these Diono car seats that are supposed to be best for smaller spaces. Usually it’s for gaining space width wise, but I’ll load it in the Taco soon and report back. We bought them for my wife’s range, we’re having our 3rd - so we need to get them all in that back seat until we figure out what we’re gonna get her.

Thank you! Please let me know how it works out. So are you planning to have the new baby rear facing in the diono? Are the other 2 going to be FF?

My kids were too big for it to matter when I bought the Tacoma but I had 2 diono seats in my 06 Impreza, both rear facing for a short while. I’m 6’2” and I felt guilty having anyone with actual legs behind me in that car so I’d guess it would be way better in the Tacoma.

I forget what the latch mounting system allows in the Tacoma but the diono’s are narrow enough you might be able to get it in the middle space with the other on the side, if that works better.

    Heres my experience.

I had the Snug Click and Graco 3-in-1 both rear facing.
Ive also had the Snug Click and Graco 4 ever both rear facing
I currently have the Graco 3-in-1 rear facing with a Diono 3RXT forward facing

Graco 3-in-1 = Fits rear facing behind either seat. Couldnt get it to fit forward facing due to how straight up rear seats were. Ended up moving to an Diono 3RXT which can fit three of them forward facing

    Graco 4ever = Same as 3-in-1

Diono 3RXT - Couldnt fit rear facing behind either seat due to how angled it is but was able to fit forward facing behind either seat

I have the britax marathon clicktight (https://www.amazon.com/Britax-Marathon-ClickTight-Convertible-Verve/dp/B013YCX22I) in the rear facing orientation behind the driver seat in my truck and can put the seat almost all the way back. It is pretty adjustable as far as how upright you want it. Our boy is 2 and ~23ish pounds (he's healthy, just tiny) and it sits pretty upright so your newborn would probably have to go behind the passenger seat.

Also, my understanding is that the 3rd gen double cabs DO NOT have latch points for the middle seat. If you put a car seat in the middle, you need to use the seatbelt.
