Just realized the selective yellow isn’t option yet. I’ll try to be patient until then lol.

Yeah, and you don’t want to use one of the existing selective yellow optics as the yellow filter will be too light, giving the light a non-compliant green hue.

Is it possible that the new selective yellow optic would be used to consolidate the rest of the lineup to only using 6000K emitters? Or will the new darker shade only be used for the Max? Shame it's only made in one color temp.

Technically seems possible, though that would be a major shame to go that route since it would lose efficiency and performance due to higher filtration losses vs the 4000k and lighter correcting optic. I can't imagine they'd do that after the work that went into optimizing the selective yellow performance on the Sport and Pro.

True. Although with the advent of making a selective yellow filter for the Max, they'll have developed a one-off "dark yellow" fog optic that only applies to one product. Unless they're also planning to produce the new shade in spot, combo, etc.

Yes, I know. I was just wondering if the new darker yellow optic they're developing will be used across the board. If they did, they could eliminate the 4000K emitters to simplify their production. Though Crash does have a point about efficiency losses through heavier filtration.

Based on all that DD has done with their state of the art SAE optics, i don't think DD would cut corners.

    You guys know your stuff!

Our production and supply chain team wanted to do that. We are not doing that. The "Max Yellow" lens will only be used for the Max Fog, and will not be sold individually.

@Diode Dynamics Hi, will the 2016+ Tacoma SS3 Fogs work on 2014+ 4Runner? are they same?

Yes, they both use the same "Type B" fog lamp kit.

How bad would it be if you go over a bump and the ss3's maxes hit someone right in the eyes.

    Could it cause momentary blindness?

Not even. Example 2nd Gen stock headlight has a lux measurement of 973 lux at 18’, the Max fog is 697 lux at 18’. Headlights would be far more blinding and aimed higher with a much higher likelihood to be blinding and allow more uplight provision than a fog. In short it is a non-issue.

Is that also a PIAA product? I've seen the Cibie brand, but never found a distributor stateside.

Edit- and you're still a tease bby

Time to split this thread into a dedicated J581 version as well.

They do look identical to the PIAA product, though interestingly the Cibie box lists Valeo for service, so I suspect they are rebranded Valeo products which could be used by multiple brands. One of my issues with PIAA is they don’t publish any performance specs, other than make believe ones.

SS3 Sport Spot vs SS3 Max Spot
    088337C0-A31E-470C-9625-1CC1D7F40325.jpg

The max definitely has a larger hot spot, not best represented in photos.

    10BD0EB5-F103-456D-B339-9B173827BECA.jpg

The Max has about 50% higher intensity in Spot, plus larger area coverage based on my measurements. Per specs it should be .25 lux at 1 kilometer, which is impressive to say the least.
