Mechanically the 5.29 gears won't allow me to go faster than 78 or 79mph. No matter what I do, which gear I am in. 78 or 79mph is the physical limit for 5.29 gears could spin the wheels.
When I tried to go downhill faster than 79, I had the gears lock up *(with a thud), and could feel strong vibrations. It is unsafe and could destroy my gears in my differential or worse break my connecting rod or damage the torque converter/transmission.
Past 78, 79, I can jam and press the gas pedal all I want, all I hear is grunts or no throttle response. The truck won't go any faster, because it simply can't. Even if I slap a hell cat engine on it somehow.

    Still thinking about it.
Interesting. So okay then, if that’s the case then SC will just get you to 78 faster!

Correct, and hence my question. Was the objective of SC on a 5.29 truck to get to 78 faster or not for that user?
I cannot justify an SC purchase (for myself) on 5.29 gears because us 3rd gen users options are limited, it could also possibly damage the diff.
This is my second diff. My factory diff got destroyed 2 weeks after purchase brand new. Had low diff fluid from factory, seized up on the freeway going 80.

I spoke to another local to you member *(from MD) who got the URD kit put on his truck.
He said he loves his truck even more and that it's a lot more power than he expected or want.
He's now considering bigger tires/wheels to take away some of that power/hp's.
URD gives you warranty for your engine. He said he used a local performance shop for install, but went to URD to get tunes/calibration and they did it a few times until it's to their satisfaction.
Since I expired my 5yr factory warranty, getting URD and another 3 yrs warranty on engine/power train for less than $7k, I actually consider as a win, compared to trading in or buying a whole new vehicle.
I have a v6, and the hp between 0 to 60 under 3500 rpms is pathetic on automatic. You want hp on v6, you could step on gas hard, but then you get 10mpgs.
If you wait/drive your truck for 5 years like I have, you'd perhaps may have a different opinion about getting a URD kit.

Yours is one of the most heavily modded 2nd gen truck I know of.
On a 3rd gen taco w/ 33s on 17, with 5.29's or the rear diff, none of us can go faster than 79mph.
5spd manual is certainly a Big plus and your wheel/tire spec and clutch plate/transmission etc all adds to the big difference and speed/ performance.
I have a love and hate relationship after regearing, it's frustrating.
I love the low speed pick and pep. I hate missing speeds over 78mph on the freeway or when I'm in a hurry.

Can you get a video of this please? Also to include the rpms increasing, but speed staying the same.

    I am extremely curious.

Sure, I can. It will be unsafe at those speeds for the diff, but I could get a video. Even if I get my rpms closer to 6000, but speedo will read 79, and that's the max speed. Heavy vibrations too and noise-y from high rpms.

Apologies to the OP since we are off topic but what you describe just can’t be some mysterious limit to the speed of your diff gears. I believe what you are saying but there just has to be more to it. Like what? I don’t know.

Sorry to bring this thread back up but I am curious if this was ever solved? Also interested to see if anyone has any other issues with URD

Sure the V6 has more power but if you supercharge the VERY reliable 4 cylinder, you keep weight down, get similar power numbers to the V6 and have a chance of outlasting the V6 since those 2TR-FE's are tanks.
