Question about the Blackberry Bold

So i am very familiar with "jailbreaking" for apple and "rooting" for android. is there anything akin to these for the blackberry?

The droid x is an amazing phone, my friend has it. I would get that if it was on T-Mobile

 

What exactly do you want to do with your Blackberry? It was my understanding that jailbreaking and rooting's main purpose was to free up the phone from any carrier tweaking. Blackberry is blackberry, as far as I know, and the carriers don't change the OS at all. With a Blackberry, you can update the OS at any time completely on your own, you don't have to wait for your carrier to post an update.

 

yeah, i posted this when i first got my phone and now ive realized its alot more free and t-mobile hasnt done much to it which made me happy. i really HATE it when carriers modify the phone, the UI and all that to their liking, because usually it ends up being crap.

My only gripes is:
- Most Apps dont work well/at all over Wi-Fi, im too cheap for a data plan.
- There are small glitches, like it will say i have a unread message when i have done BB menu -> Mark previous opened. My guess is these small glitches are just because OS6 is still new.

Over all i love this phone. As a first time BlackBerry User i am very satisfied, but my next phone will most definitely be Android based. I cant wait for the dual-core phones
