So I hit the main harness connection powering the entire console with a test light. The bottom red wire (4th from the last in the pic) is hot on accessory. So if you look at the picture it's the red wire on the bottom between the white and green.

    Thanks!

Is the black wire (2nd from right in the pix) ground?

Confirmed. Red wire is constant/always on 12v. For ground just tap the metal behind the console. Now I can have my blue lights for EMT/Fire without having to rip out the trucks panels.

I joined Tacoworld just so I could fix my map light, the bulbs would not come straight out, the tape trick did not work. Then the stock bulb popped out and fell inside the console, I ended up with this thread and a few others on Tacoworld —- pulling the whole console out and in five minutes it had LED’s and back up. Thank you Tacoworld!!!!!!!!

Does the Tacoma 2020 off-road console come out the same? Cause man that thing is in there good. I tried to get it off last evening..started at the back corners... thought I was going to pull the whole interior roof down! Seems like my MTS/Crawl and sunroof buttons are not working... wondering if there is a loose connection ..is there a fuse for those?

Why are you messing with it? You have warranty.

While replacing all of the interior lights with LEDs on my '20 TRD Off Road I did the exact same thing as the OP (@Psycho2)... while trying to remove the map light on the driver's side I managed to dislodge the light's base which left it rattling around inside the console area. I attempted to remove the console with a trim tool but it was pretty tight and I didn't want to break anything, so I started searching for an answer and came across this thread and a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to remove the console. It's attached tightly with four clips, one on each corner but with a quick and firm pull it will pop off no problem.

Bottom line, at least IMHO (and as the OP mentioned), is to skip trying to get the bulbs out of each map light and just pull the console. Turns out it's much quicker, easier and a lot less frustrating.

Here's one YT video... you can skip to about a minute in for the actual removal. Once you've replaced the lights the console pops back into the clips very easily.

Here's the other one that shows the same thing plus the other interior light replacements. He uses the same LED replacement light kit I bought on Amazon.

Hope that helps anyone that follows!

Nice! This actually helps out a lot. I've had issues with my interior lights not turning on when the door is open. When I switch it to the "Door" position, it's just off. And obviously when it's in the "On" position, it'll remain on indefinitely until it's turned off. At least now I know how to open it and check the wiring. Thanks!
