The bolts holding the pressure plate together backed out?! Christ....
Well, my story goes.... 3k miles into my urd stage 2 clutch flywheel and pressure plate, I all the sudden have a horrific noise when the clutch is to the floor. Thought it might be a Tob. When we went in there, the metal adapter ring in the pressure plate had was too much play and was swirling.
We put it back together, and after about 500 miles, it magically stopped making that noise. It's been silent ever sense.

Unfortunately I have no inputs except that there's something sketch going on here!

This thread is an expensive one

Keep an eye on those chain guides. Mine had just under 150,000 on it and they went and I could hear the chain slap during every start. At the time I only had an apartment and my Mom's house didn't have a garage. Between that and failing inspection for a host of failing suspension pieces, I just unloaded it for more than I paid for it and called it good. If I won the lottery, I think I'd buy a late 1G 4Runner, swap the 3.4L into it and enjoy it.

Well at least nothing was broken and was just the bolts. You got lucky my friend, maybe go buy a lottery ticket:)

But there are quite a few guys running URD clutches without issues, correct?

For sure im sure that most of everyone that has a URD clutch is on Tacoma world and we just seem like the handful

Kinda but it's hard to tell since it's only 3 seconds and your shoes are ugly as fuck! :D

Sometimes mine would only make the noise for a second. Other times it would make the noise as long as the clutch was to the floor.
    Post a long video.
Is it still going that noise? Mine magically stopped after we took the transmission out a second time to inspect it. :angrygirl:

    agree. damn those shoes!

the vid is so short that it's hard to confirm, but it does have the 'bead in a bowl' sound associated with a bad bearing. i had similar as my wave ring spacer was dying. if the vid was longer...

They were a gift and I love them  but yes it depends how long it makes the noise for. sometimes it’s a quick noise others it’s dragged out. Mines in the shop now driving my auto guy insane he said he’s giving it one more shot today and dropping the tranny if can’t figure it out idk. He’s checking metal adapter ring and the bolts today.

Dude that really sounds like the issue I had. Which I believe was the metal adapter ring spinning on the pressure plate fingers. I'm not positive but it sounds similar.
Check how much play mine had when we went in to check it out

Not sure. We saw some metal shavings in the housing i assume came from that thing spinning around.
I don't think it'll really hurt anything. If they don't see anything, drive it and see if it eventually finds its happy place like mine did.

Just spoke to my guy and he said it was that ring. This noise only
Happened after the ADM. he said he’s going to try it with it off and on to see if it changes anything.

We took it totally apart, inspected everything, and and put it back together lol. I didn't even put the new Tob in... It's still in my toolbox. Took 8 hours of me and another guy with the truck on a lift.
We had the transmission off in about 2.5 hours

Don't quote me, but I told Gadget we contemplated zip wheeling that ring off and he said don't do that. No idea why
