Potatoes and corn will spike blood sugar. Flour and rice do too.

I was pre diabetic a year ago. Today there’s not a sign of it. Liver enzymes are perfect. Cholesterol is perfect. I’ve lost 45 pounds in 8 months. All doctor approved. All I did was cut our carbs and sugars. No additional exercise (I don’t do any at all). Red meats, fish, chicken, salads. Have never been better

Ditto. Got blindsided by a Thyroid Disease. Was pre-diabetic going in but the treatment pushed me all the way into the deep end of the pool. Decided I could either embrace it or complain about it. So I cut out sugar, flour, potatoes, rice, starch and bread (ugh). I’ve spent two years developing recipes out of a mixture of almond and coconut flour, whey protein powder, mozzarella and cream cheese. Sounds crazy but it works. A1C lived in the in the high 6 to low 7’s. Now I’m at 5.1. Cholesterol is the best it’s ever been. And both my wife and I have lost and kept off over 30 lbs. Keep up the good fight. Will share recipes.

I have been amazed at the good health benefits of just taking out the unnecessary waste foods. I do miss bread. A lot! I too am working on a bunch of bread recipes though. But I make choc chip cookie dough, choc chip cookies, bagels and it fits the cravings. I love I can eat all the eggs, bacon, beef I want!

    Theres also this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ketogenic-diet.567256/

I dont do full-on keto with the high fats. I add them if I can, but dont go out of my way... Just count the carbs and I’m good!

Thanks for the link I didn’t even know it existed...I’ve been bugging the foodies bs guys with all my low carb stuff haha. I am not keto either just sensible. 20 grams per meal and 10 per dessert works incredibly well. Sometimes the desserts go higher but we balance with a lower carb main meal.
