Ya I hear ya, thats why I mentioned calling them and asking first they might tell him to go ahead and glue something on to get him through the season. If they say no then hes outta luck till he sends it back.

Yep, this is the best I could do overlooking this area they were crossing the swamp. It is a bit more open on the other side I was just comfortable there haha. it helps I'm in a tree saddle so I can stand up on two big branches and move all around to work around the brush.

As for the binos I'll probably call or email later today and see what they say. I have a backup pair but I don't even know where they are. Maybe I should have sent them in-between season because they have been nice and crunchy twisting stuff around for a bit now but I am definitely hard on them.

My buddy shot a really big 8pt today at 3:20pm. 45 yards, not positive where he hit it. Blood on the arrow; blood was a medium red (not pink, not dark). No gut smell. We waited an hour and 20 minutes before looking for it. Found the arrow about 10 yards from impact, never found a single drop of blood except what was on the arrow. He said it ran off not overly fast and was kind of in a zigzag pattern. Not sure what (if anything) that means. Going back tomorrow to search. I'm thinking some type of muscle hit? Possibly low in the brisket? He said it was pretty much perfectly broadside. Anyhow, we'll see.

Depending on what he thought yardage was sounds low. Was the fletching covered in blood?

Thats what I'm thinking. He said it made the good 'pop' sound when he shot it. Not a crack like shoulder. But where can you hit them low and not kill them? Unless it's really, really low?

45yd is good distance for bow, not saying the arrow is slow but it can drop a lot.

Yes. I'm almost positive he hit it really low. Not finding a single drop of blood is puzzling though. I have his arrow in my truck, gonna snap a pic.

Muzzy. We use the exact same arrow/broadhead in case we need to borrow some shit! It's his turn to buy broadheads!

I feel like usually with a low hit you will find more blood than with a high hit but I haven't had to track any archery kills and have only had to track two rifle kills. One didn't leave a drop of blood even jumping a fence but the bullet was bubbled up under the hide.

I want to think a lower shot would bleed at least a little because they will bleed wherever you shoot them some places more than others, but with a high shot the blood can pool up easier inside them whereas a low shot doesn't have as big an area to pool.

Can you tell the color of the hair at all? It is hard for me to see but it looks really dark.

I agree. Maybe he slung the arrow a pretty good distance and we just missed the blood. It was getting dark when we started looking. The 'running in zigzag pattern' confuses me, hell...all of it confuses me! Gonna be a long day tomorrow!

It is dark, which would mean really, really low. At least, thats my thinking.
