@Blue92 maybe we're overthinking @BartMaster1234 panel idea.. power supplies are expensive especially since he wants 100a at 12vdc

What if he were to go with a 1.5kva 1PH isolation transformer and then run that through a 100A rated rectifier? It'll be 10 times heavier than an actual power supply and won't look as elegant or fancy inside a panel but it would definitely be cheaper. Just slap some thermocoating paste and a beefy heatsink under that rectifier and he should be off to the races... what's your opinion on that?

That sounds awesome. As long as it doesn’t explode I’m game.

They build those trains in your neck of the woods. The factory that builds them is in Plattsburgh, NY. Same place that builds the NYC Subway and PATH cars.

They then flatbed them cross country here to Hayward.

    I just got into Community

And then turned it off because it hits too close to home.

I'd be tempted to look at a couple of PC ATX power supplies. Some of those newer gaming ones can put out some insane amperage on the 12v rails.

    This one does 70 amps @ 12V:

We don’t talk about the boat

Work and school has me beat. I’m at a startup right now and it takes up most of my free time.

I actually converter an Antec PSU that @Speedytech7 so graciously donated to me as a guinea pig. It was rated for like... 55 amps at 12v. However, it didn’t like any of my lightbars. It would refuse to work unless it was low amperage. My most thirsty lightbar uses like 33 amps in full code so it’s capable.

Humm. Interesting. Sometimes they're a little too smart for their own good, although i haven't played with one in years. I had to put a big resistor on one of the rails to trick it into doing something. Worked fine for my breadboard.

I think the Antec supply he gave me was too nice and had some kind of over voltage protection. Because it would just shut off if you introduced something high amperage.
