    Still thinking about it.
Howdy. Never met you guys but I’m a shameless abuser of a bone stock Tacoma myself. Not intentional abuse (I’m older now), just using it as intended.

Nope. The RAV actually has more Camry DNA in it than Corolla.

The 2019 RAV4 and up, are based on the Camry platform. Older RAV4 were based on the Corolla.

The RAV gas always shared much of the Camry's DNA. The 1st 2 gens AWD system was actually based on the old Camry/Celica All Trac. The engines and transmission have always been Camry based....and still are. The hybrids are set up a bit different in that the 2nd traction motor is mounted in the rear diff.

Toyota does have a Corolla based SUV coming out in the next year or so.

    Quote from Motortrend website:

"How is this possible? Because Toyota jumped platforms with the new RAV4. The outgoing version was on Toyota's global compact platform that was shared with the Corolla sedan. But the 2019 RAV4 moves onto the TNGA-midsize platform that also hosts the Camry and Prius."

    https://www.motortrend.com/news/the-2019-toyota-rav4-is-almost-as-big-as-the-original-highlander/

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_RAV4

    Says the same Corolla platform.

The 3rd gen was based on another platform just like the Coralla in that model years.

96 Corolla extremely prone to panel perforations and other winter rott on brake, fuel lines and exhaust :bananadead:

for your viewing pleasure  no pics of body panels but most every one has rotted perforations now, it grew so fast

top of the fuel tank below here, starting leaking out at the gas station on a full fillup, must've lost at least a half gallon

JB weld patch, rust encapsulator spray + woolWax sheep fat that i just recently found out about thanks to TW

The platform of the previous gen RAV was modified so much that it shared little with the previous gen Corolla. And like I said....the RAV and Corolla have never shared drivetrain components. That was all picked from the Camry....as well as a tweaked version of the Camry's front and rear suspension. The Corolla had a torsion beam

This is how it was explained to me be the Toyota tech. The 3rd Gen RAV4 platform uses a heavily modify Corolla platform. Some people says that it so modify it's no longer a Corolla platform while others says once a Corolla always a Corolla. While there's no right or wrong answer it's just one's opinion.

To prove his point he took me to the computer and did a parts look up on the Corolla and RAV4. Same part number for different components.

The 2.5L was in the 2009 RAV4 was put in the Camry in 2010. The RAV4 was the guinea pig for the 2.5L. A few years later it was redesign with more power. It was a turtle at highway speed with 4 passenger.
