My biggest problem was trying to hold my self up while lying on ground . Age problem lol. Yea guess needle nose and spreading locking tabs would have worked . Hard to think when you pissed off and in pain l.

lately i have noticed some funky whilst using the cruise control on the highway but not sure if its related to the fuel pump or the clutch or some other oddity popping up

I replaced mine last year at roughly 225,000 miles. I had some other activities maintenance going that made me want to do it. It wasn't all that bad of a job. I tilted the bed up so I could access the tank. I used jack stands between the bed and the frame to keep the bed in position.

    The tank was squeaky clean.

looks like you also had to remove the whole bumper?
    and the lights

the only way i can see to access far rear frame holes is to completely remove the tank

I replaced the bumper during that exercise. I can't remember if I had it off for that or needed to remove it to tilt the bed.

I had issues with it not hot starting easily and other random problems like the gauge dropping too fast and stuff like that.
