80m DX window is moving like normal... get your filters set, turn up that volume to a comfortable level and dial down that RF gain

And "delta papa" means a change in daddys. Sounds like trouble.
Get out and use that callsign!

Looking for some help tracking down an issue...

I purchased a Laird Technologies MABT8 nmo mount back in the fall and in the past couple of months have noticed a significant drop-off in TX and RX. It became obvious when my HT inside the truck was picking up repeaters clearly and the radio had no reception. Could the fact the NMO mount is exposed to elements on a fender mount instead of being inside the vehicle as with a typical roof mount application? I have tested the continuity and the center pin has good continuity between the nmo and PL-259, however I am not picking up any continuity between the outer ring of the nmo and shield of the PL-259.

It could be a continuity issue to the truck body but since you said no continuity to the SHIELD, sounds like the connection on the bottom of the NMO came apart. Are the solder joints on the bottom of the NMO mount visible?

@BenMara He was saying his HT was doing better than his mobile rig. His mobile rig has the problem.

This is definitely a problem. Fix that first. Also consider buying a NanoVNA. Any mobile antenna should be tested.

Does anyone know how to search for open call signs? For example if I wanted to search for *UTI* or something would it show anything open with that string?
