I was actually just thinking that steps w/o fill plates might be a good compromise, but was dissappointed at the lack of pictures. Can I see what they look like without plates on yours? Thanks!

Angle makes a big difference for a step. Zero degree makes a much better step than something angled up more. Bolt on sliders are easy enough to install by yourself with a 5 gallon bucket to support the other end. Bedliner vs powder coat, bedliner tends to peel if you scrape it deep and powder coat is hard to repair when it gets damaged. It’s all preference but krylon is cheap and easy to match/fix.

Step, powder, 0*, with kickout and fill plates.
I use mine for steps often. It's a handy way to reach the top of your truck.
If you have a lady friend or anyone short riding in your truck, they'll scrape their legs on the bedliner. Best to go with regular powder.

I went with the 0*, kicker, no filler, powder coat, bolt on. They've been great. She Who Must Be Obeyed appreciates having the step.

^this. Mine have the kick out and fill plates and are a 20deg angle(spray painted with bedliner). The only thing I dont love about them is that I can barely use them as a step to get to the roof anywhere besides the kick out. I plan on cutting them up and dropping the angle down somewhere in the 0-10 degree range.

Stupid question, but does anyone know if it’s possible to add an extra leaf to the HD dakars? Already have the weight of a bed rack and RTT and adding a HC rear with a swingout is gonna kill my lift it looks like.

It won’t kill it, I’ve thrown some stuff in the truck and had a heavy trailer with minimal squat.

Thanks for sharing a pic. That's definitely exactly what I'm going for- the fill plate I'm not crazy about visually or the extra $, and it will still provide a step..besides I've never been into clumsy women

I'm able to get into the roof rack and reach the RTT to set it up and break it down. Haven't missed not having plates there. And if SWMBO can manage to not put her foot through getting into and out of the truck, then I think pretty much anybody should be ok.
I was pretty much able to put mine on almost entirely by myself. My teenage daughter helped for about 5 minutes in one place. If you have jack stands or something to prop them up on, you can definitely do it by yourself. I went with the powder coat so I could rattle can it if needed. I don't regret any of my choices regarding the options I took, I've never thought I would have been better served with something I didn't get. And being local, it was great to not have to pay shipping.

    Yes, I do.
I have a job that I go to, and they require me to wear a mask.

If I could live in a basement with a tinfoil hat doing nothing but posting conspiracy theories, then I wouldn't need a mask.

I have no basement. I assume you’re in your late 30’s. You should know the flu has taken more lives than this China virus. Have you ever had to wear a mask due to the flu? Have you ever lost your job due to the flu? Ever been denied entry to a business due to to flu? Ever been quarantined due to the flu? You’re part of the herd and are being played!

Alright alright, back on topic please.

Any events in December need to go on post 1? November is about a wrap. We will resume meet polls in January to kick off 2021.
