    Hello,
I design and manufacture custom ram ball mounts for the popular Baofeng UV-5R/BF-F8, UV-82, UV-9S, and UV-9R two-way radios.

These mounts incorporate a 1/4-20 threaded insert and allows installation of a ram ball adapter. The ram ball adapter is not included and must be purchased separately.

    https://www.amazon.com/Mount-1-Inch-4-Inch-Threaded-Cameras/dp/B0059X0YIQ/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=1"+ram+ball&qid=1606001841&sr=8-3

The UV-5R/BF-F8 mount will accommodate either the OEM 1800mah battery and OEM extended 3800mah battery. I have a separate variant that will fit the OEM 2100mah battery but will not work with the 1800mah or 3800mah battery.

looks 3D printed. What's the material used for the print?

Hello @MasonSTL I use ASA material, it's more UV resistant than ABS, and mechanical properties are more favorable.

Meant to edit my post; I think these are pretty cool coming from someone that uses a Baofeng when I wheel with others.

However, if you're making and selling these, I'm sure that goes against forum rules as you'll need to become a vendor.

    Just a heads up.

I think that only applies to sellers selling lighting products.

Do you have a pic of the mount without a radio in it?

This is pretty neat. Pics of how it mounts to the vent? Interested in one!

That's a great suggestion! I will try and design a mount that attaches to a ram ball. Which ram ball mount do you use?

Thanks! It's a simple two tab design that snaps into the A/C Vent Ring.

For a ram mount, would it be possible to make screw holes in the back so the end user could mount whatever ram ball size they need? I have cobbled together ram ball mounts on non-ram holders for various things using JB Weld, but it always looks like crap.

I would definitely be in if this mount was made ram ball compatible.

That's a great idea! With @tacoma_ca recommendation, I could get get a nut on the mount for the installation of different size ram balls. I had assumed that all ram balls were the same size.

The 1" ball is the size usually used for mounts like this. The Quadlock 1" ball adapter is a similar example.

You can also get a 1/4-20 female threaded 1" RAM ball then have a 1/4-20 through-bolt in your device, which may be of interest for your structural design.

Why not just fab the 1” ball off the back into the design? One less piece to attach. You could fab 1” and 2”designs and sell whatever is in demand
