    Leg day today.

For the first time in over a year I am now able to do walking lunges with a complete ROM.
My 4th set I was able to it holding 5lb DB :muscleflexing:

Not sure what is going on with this bursitis. Not sure how long I won’t be able to run but I’m able to lift without problems so thats great news.

I’ve been able to focus on my rehab exercises and take things slow and easy on the legs. In the last 3 weeks my knee I had surgery on is doing great. My quad is finally starting to activate and grow. I’m probably 75-80% on that side now. I guess its getting the undivided attention it needed.

Heading to the basement for my first “heavy” day on my HLM program. Hoping to squat where I was at a few weeks ago and PR on my weak ass bench.

my squat actually isn’t awful all things considered. I’m just a pussy and I want to die when I’m doing them :rain:. My bench on the other hand is just stupid weak. I blame it on my long arms :sadviolin:

So it doesn't hurt after until I stand up or have straight posture. It's fuckin weird, man.

No pain while lifting, no pain while laying down or sitting on the couch. BUT if I stand up for a little bit, like while cooking meals, it starts to inflame and get a hot stabbing pain. Doesn't go away till I lay flat or roll it against a ball.

My bench is my best lift.

I did 205 for 3 on Friday. Which puts my 1RM around 225.
I think not totally shitty for a 150something pound ultra runner.
    2021 goals 275

4x12 squats today with.... are you ready....

    30lbs.

    Woo!

I could maybe squat 135 if I tried really hard. 2021 goals. Squat 2 plates.

    Injuries are weird.
My abdominal tear never really hurt except when I laid down. Then it gave me back pain.
    Wtf?

    Human body is weird.

Sounds like you need to lift more and have your lady do the cooking.

Not really in a joint. Its pes anserine bursitis. So in my upper, inner calf. Your calf, hamstring, and quad attach across the knee joint. Right where they all cross under the knee is where it hurts.

Its very slowly getting better. Like realllllly slow. It doesnt really hurt (1/10) it just is always there...

Well if it makes you feel any better my squat today or was not nearly what I was hoping it would be. I got up the weight but it was ugly and felt like shit. So I ended up doing 3 sets of 250x5, was hoping to do 5 sets but my lower back is still a bit sore, I’m hoping I can take it fairly easy this week and next Sunday get it where I want to, with more weight.

Halfway through my bench right now. First set hit pr of 170x5, next two could only get it up 4x, 2 more to go.

Honestly, I’m 90% sure I need to be eating more if I want these numbers up. I’d also like to look good for a beach trip planned in January. I guess I don’t know where I want my goals to be. :annoyed:

Everyone seems to tell me their bursitis was some horrific experience but I'll be honest this really is not painful at all. The bursa itself is a little tender if you touch it, but that's about it.

What bothers me is my calf and hamstring near the knee joint get tight and like pull on the bursa. If I take a muscle relaxer pain is 100% gone and it's like nothing is wrong.

My knee is swollen too. Like no pain or anything but I can tell I've got fluid in the knee joint. But I have full ROM and no pain when lifting. What actually irritates it is sitting all day working, if I move around I'm fine.

So it's odd it doesn't sound like what other people experience. Still mulling over if I should go back to see the sports doc to double check its not something else.

I care more about my body comp than I do about numbers. Like I'm OK with slow progress if it means I'm not getting fat. I've not done too bad with a 200 cal surplus.

This year the goal is just stay injury free so I can actually stay consistent enough in my lifting to have normal numbers. The last 4 years it's always been fucking something.
I'm gonna start back at the 200 cal surplus again and see how I do focusing mostly on lifting the next few months and less on running like a maniac. Lets see if that's enough.

@ThunderCookies has dropped significnt weight and added to his lifts which is thoroughly impressive. He apparently has a special sauce.

Yesterday’s workout was carrying a Blacktail buck on my shoulders down a mountain for about a mile. #functionalfitness

I need some of that sauce.

I guess that’s the overall goal for me as well. I’m pretty happy with my body comp right now, but its hard to stop adding plates every session. I spent the last few months adding more and more intensity, sets, lifts, etc. I think I just need to find a happy medium.

    Bow or gun?

    Ahhhhh newbie gains.

I have the opposite problem. I keep getting to re-experience the newbie gains and don't get the joys of more intermediate lifting.

Have you looked into any of Jim Wendler's 531 programs? They are actually set up for you to set regular PRs in the gym. If that's a motivating factor for you, you may like that set up. It's not adding plates every single time but it's its at least constant progression, especially for people in their first years of lifting (although advanced lifters have reported success with his programs as well).

A bit, but I keep getting sucked back into the mark rippettoe cult lol. Now that you mention it though, I will go check it out more in depth.

Remember, once you go bow, you never go back.

At least once you bow hunt, rifle hunting looses its appeal.

Like my dad took his mountain goat at 600 yrds. Like I totally understand that takes some skill, but when you can fart, smoke, drink, and bullshit with your buddys and the goat still has no clue you are there... less appealing to me.

When you have to slip off your boots to be quiet enough not to spook a deer when sneaking up on them, that's a whole other ball game :)

When you get to wear a ghillie suit, that's the real deal.

Mine was right in the joint so that didn't help. Plus my age..and that I weighed about 250 or so at that point. Come to think, I had no cartilege in that knee either.

The pain was so bad at times..couldn't bend the knee much before seeing stars almost. It almost dropped me a couple of times..6-8 weeks on crutches and a huge wrap.
