How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

I would just take your dealers word for it at this point. I do not know the ins and outs of the business. I’m just regularly communicating with my salesman.

If you put down a deposit and are communicating with your salesperson they really don’t have any reason to lie to you. They want the sale as much as you want your truck.
If for some reason they don’t or you don’t trust them, get your deposit back and another dealer will gladly sell you the truck.

Hopefully you get yours later this month! Waiting is brutal. Especially when I’m killing time here on TW reading about mods.. and issues.. LOL

 

I think if you have the vin and log in to the Toyota Owner’s app or Toyota owner’s website with it, and the vin is taken and matches your configuration, you should be good to go.

At least that’s what I tell myself....

 

I’ve noticed in the last couple days that a few dealerships websites located in the PNW states have taken delivery and are advertising 2021 Access cabs on their lots - so the factory has built some!

 

Was just getting ready to order but got lucky and found a dealership 3 hours away with an allocated AG OR DCSB 6MT in transit.

Should arrive between Nov 30 - Dec 7 so about 3 weeks from when I found it.

Was hoping for a US a build but waited too long and this is out of Guanajuato, MX. Assuming build quality is the same but woulda been fun to have a US built Japanese truck.

 

Yeah, mine was built in Guanajuato, MX, too. Arrived yesterday and is now sitting in my driveway. I hope the quality is as good as my 2019 TRD Sport, which was built in TX.

It took 3 weeks for me from the day I ordered. Got a White TRD OR w/ the premium package. They're hard to come by in Vegas. Only thing that I wasn't expecting when I got to the dealership to buy it was that it was a long bed. Didn't want to wait anymore so I bought it anyways...

 

Toyota assigns a temporary VIN for production. It is NOT the final VIN which will be determined after the truck is complete.

 

My understanding from Toyota corporate is that there was a supplier 'hiccup' that put a hold for inspection on all double cabs in production.

 

In essence what you stated is true. Should the dealer find one in their allocation that is close to what a customer wants AND if the actual production date is close AND if the supply chain can handle it, they (the dealer) can sometimes tweak the packages & color.
That said, if you rattle enough cages Toyota can build one for you. That is what I managed to accomplish. My truck was produced and delivered outside of my dealer's allocation. With ONLY the factory packages that I wanted. I don't recommend the process unless you're outrageously persistent and extremely patient. It also helps to have been a 40+ year Toyota owner.

I called around to a bunch of dealers on the west coast, made a deal with one last week who is going to search for a Pro and if they can't find one put in for a build... sounds like I'm in for a long wait!

 

No pics yet - once it's close to being ready for prime time I'll post a bunch. It's magnetic gray metallic (aka MGM) - interior is mostly black. Outwardly nothing spectacular, and my mods will be subtle.

 

always thought Toyota did NOT do factory direct orders

true some dealers get preferential treatment..............they have Very Gooood sales

they get best if Not 1st pick

yet its from a pool of available models.........thats why colores are all but impossible to match up

 

Update. Truck was delivered by rail in Houston from Baja, Ca Wednesday night. Hold released and sent to logistics Thursday morning. Then it was delivered to me yesterday.

 

Just got off the phone with the local dealer . Now their telling me the middle of january . I have been looking for one since june . I guess manual tranny tacomas are rare .

 

Where are you located? Mine took 2 months, from 'ordering' (@ Sept 14), to delivery (it arrived Nov 13). Mine is a manual.

go to a different dealer and see what they find on turn around times. Sounds like this current dealer isn't looking in the right places.
