Maybe OP is still stuck out on the trails somewhere? We should gather a bunch of us saps with >8000lb winches to go do some search and rescue.

I was about to say the same thing. He probably got stuck somewhere trying to use their solution in the real world, and it failed.

Redirect and pulley this thread together, to gain mechanical advantage with the least amount of effort. Let me run some synthetic, low stretch ropes out virtually through the muck in my mind, and might be able to get unstuck.

I would but I just found out that my 8000lb winch is useless and now I can't let my rig be seen in public.

I went with a 12k as I got one hell of a deal. Almost the price of the 10k version but in retrospect the 10k would have been the better choice then found out my truck weights 7k+ lbs.

That 3500lb winch is a waste of money, you need to find one around 2000lb and it'll be much lighter and cheaper.

I’ve spent way too much time waiting for solenoids to cool down to go any less than a 9000 pound winch and carry a fair lead with me and some rigging. I’ve got to warn 8274 on my Rockcrawler that I just love to death but I have some other winches that get the job done also

He's probably been winching himself out this whole time and hasn't gotten back home to upload the video.

    Excellent video. Learned lots.
Curious as if to what weight rating the rope has to have to pull that out.
    I'm assuming 3400+ lbs...
But yeah, in General, I like the idea of a plate mounted winch that sits in the garage the 95% of the time the truck is being used in town.

My gawd. The original post and it's fill up defenses, all delivered with know-it-all certainty, are pretty much the dumbest effing thing I've read in a long time.
