Lol, Bob have you ever lived in Sherman County Nebraska ? Or at least driven thru ? I have and in 1986 at 0400 in January, I was putzin along on my way to work when a big boom jolted my coffee cup right out of my hand. When I came to a stop I grabbed my flashlight and got out to take a look. Sure enough, the light shined on the biggest (I'm not a animal expert) raccoon I ever saw limping back into the wood line and I promise you he was at least a 30 pounder and about three feet long. I was driving a 1972 Ford Pinto at the time if that helps.

Traveling at night for about the third time in my new two month old Tacoma this past Friday, the 13th. My wife reminded me of the automatic high beam dimming feature so we were trying it out. Glad it worked...came up by surprise on a 8 pointer standing on the roadside and was able to hit the brakes enough to slow down fairly quick. Luckily he bolted into a pasture away from the road...scared us both....our county is fairly rural with lots of deer...think I'll stay home at night until the "rut" is over. Sorry for your damages OP and I hope you get it all fixed to suit you. I've hit two bambis in years past in my old Ford Ranger. It's not fun since there's literally no time to react. Luckily both my wife and I spotted the buck the other night in time...he would have done some damage.

Correct. I know of a guy who runs them down with his truck and takes pictures with his quarry. It’s very comfortable for him because he likes to hunt with his pajamas on. I try not to judge him.

I had one do so a week before opening day with my last truck. He ran out of my lane only to turn around and run into me as I was going by him. That door never sealed the same. Pretty sure he bent the A pillar just enough. He was probably a 6 point, but I didn't get a good look.

I've had a similar experience too. Just took out my LEDs due to colder weather. Those LEDs were far better for spotting deer than the stock bulbs I just put back in.

That sucks. I never filed claims for any of my hits. You might be able to find a body guy who can align that door without charging a small fortune.

I traded it in for my Taco back in April. It hit on the passenger side. My significant other would complain about her feet being cold if the vent wasn't blowing down there. I never believed it was the door since she's always cold, until I rode over there one day when it was -17°F before the wind chill. Then I noticed the difference between the driver's side and passenger side. Never filed a claim though. It was a 10 year old truck at that point.

I was driving a Ford Contour in the mid-1990s in the left lane on I-10 in Louisiana. The largest raccoon I have ever seen (initially, I thought it was a small bear!) ran across the highway, decided he didn't want to get hit by the semi-trailer to the right of me, turned around and tried to make it back across the highway to safety. When I hit him with my right front end, that side of my car bounced several feet in the air like I was going up a ramp. I took the next exit to examine the damage and it looked like a fur rug had exploded all over the front of my car.

Had a deer run into the side of my truck about a month ago. Saw him coming out from the side so I swerved a little hoping he wouldn't run into the side of the truck, he did. Left a line of fur down my running board, across the edge of my tire, cracked mud flap and caught my rear taillight pulling it enough to break a tab on the light. I was lucky to not have any dents or dings on the truck body. Used the broken taillight as an excuse to put PRO taillights on.....
