Hmm wonder if it’s got to do with the Mexico production line. Every 3 vin car I come across(although mainly Nissan) all fall apart as they near 100k. Sucks to hear this happen but you can’t be serious about them giving you a upgraded truck right? Lol

I’m a used car sales manager at an independent dealer. The point of a warranty is to repair defects...which I assume they’re taking care of the new engine for you. Now, if your engine goes out 3x or they can’t source the parts OR you have other issues within a certain time period, then by all means you deserve a new truck...but just cuz the engine blows doesn’t warrant a new or upgraded rig. It’s just business after all. As a sales manager a bad car is as big of a headache for us as it is to the customer. A customer who comes with unreasonable demands makes it worse on our end. Or maybe I just care too much about the customer lol

I can’t read the whole thread, especially with it off the rails. Is the #5 cylinder the passenger or drivers side?

I’d like you to choose from the following comebacks:
    1) You seem to have a lot of personally acquired, detailed information about these situations given your use of the term “usually”.
    2) Apparently you spend a decent amount of time at rest stops at night along Interstate 95.
    3) Hey if dudes with cameras and butt thumbs allow you to find peace and harmony, then who am I to judge?

At This point my other neighbors might chip-in just to see it go away. At least at my house it would be behind a gate.

I'm pretty sure if I showed-up for a date with my GF in a Geo Metro I'd be single again LOL! Although on our first romantic weekend away date to Santa Barbara we drove an old Isuzu Amigo I used to own (actually sold it to buy my Taco). However had I, at the time suggested we take a romantic, weekend trip in a three-cylinder car with 13" wheels, pizza-box hard seats and an AM/FM stereo with no clock I likely would have been taking that trip alone. What can I say, my girl has standards

i would agree and disagree. of course i understand that a girl needs to have standards, but......

all 3 of my girls that i dated before i got married, when i started dating them i was driving a piece of crap. 1998 civic that had a input shaft bearing going out so it was super loud. a 1999 camry that had 220k. and the last gf that is now my wife, i was driving a gutted 2005 RSX type S with solid engine mounts. For me it showed that they wernt shallow and wanting a rich guy.

the reason i was driving those crappy cars, was because i was between cars. so each girl, after dating her for a month, i would buy a nice car. 2 girls got a Accord V6 6 speed and the last one got a g37.

I get what you're saying and I actually used to drive the Amigo on dates mainly to weed-out any 'Gold Diggers'. I also didn't mention to any potential dates that I own my house but rather said I rented if asked for the same reason. One time I lied about having a roommate in order to explain why there were so many cars at my house, which later back-fired when she said she wouldn't spend the night because she didn't want to bump into anyone in the kitchen the next morning. After that I didn't lie about having roommates anymore LOL!

I could probably write a book (or perhaps a series of Blog Posts) about some of the experiences I had with on-line dating! At the time I hated every minute of it but in the end I met my GF from it so it was worth it

The Mexican line is often a scapegoat, but in my time here I've heard just as many issues with the American lines, if not more. Seems to me it has less to do with the factory and more to do with the parts or how things were working that particular day.

wow this thread really blew up...kinda like my engine...I havent read all these pages, i dont quite have time for 14 pages of forum threads these days.

To no surprise in an online forum many of you call me out for one thing or another. Its quite comical actually. I know my life and work experience and I dont need to prove myself to you for any self gratification or for the group. kudos to those who do understand me and the situation! Someone even said "i prolly drove it like i drove my sti" haha you dont know me or my style. I actually drove the truck like an old man. But, nice contribution just being an internet moron...

That being said. I am here on day 11 without a truck. 15 days to repair under the lemon law fast approaching. No contact from the dealer in days in any shape or form. Corporate has told me to get fucked. However they are investigating this being a lemon by their own process and rules. The dealer has also basically told me to get fucked. I called the attorney general and they told me to file a complaint online to start the process regardless of the outcome it can always be rescinded. I am also working with a lawyer to understand the lemon law, he says there are other things we can do besides just the lemon law(money off etc). Nobody should put up down payments and most importantly first months hefty payment and be without a $45k vehicle this long after only a few days of driving it and deal with the aggrivation.

I have friends in the business and this is not a fluke. There is an inherent issue with cyl 5 exhaust valve springs breaking under 500 miles.

Stayed tuned. Continue to bash me if you will. If your lucky comment happens to catch my eye, it will be a good laugh at the least.

Unfortunately, the contract you signed when you purchased your truck has a binding arbitration clause which means you are just throwing money at a lawyer and will NEVER EVER get anything out of this but a new valve train component.

Cut your losses, stop paying a greedy lawyer, sell that thing on carvana and move on....

I did see that in 2010 Toyota issued a recall on the 3.5 v6 for valve spring breakage.

also recall for 2014 - 2015 4 bangers for valve springs

maybe more common than we think...

You would do well to stop poking a stick in the eye of everyone you have any interaction with. Your understanding of the entire situation is minimalistic and juvenile.

The dealer has 15 business days to correct the problem. So if your truck broke on Nov 10, and you notified them immediately, they have until Dec 2 to return your truck.
If the problem isn't fixed, then the manufacturer gets 7 business days to resolve the problem after you notify them in writing.

You are a broke ass mofo that is shitting his pants over $40K. Toyota is the largest auto manufacturer in the world. They won't be intimidated by the third rate lawyer you found working out of an office over Jimbo's BBQ and Radiator Repair.

You'll get your truck back on the 14th business day, because they are now fucking with you because you asked for it.
You might get an extended warranty, most people do when they have a serious repair. But they don't have to give you any extension other than covering the repair for the original warranty length. Which means extending your warranty one month.

OP said he is in Massachusetts. Mass BMV webpage info on lemon law is 3 attempts not to exceed 15 business days. If not repaired by the dealer the manufacturer then gets 7 business days.

I'm not sure how effective lemon laws are vs the release dealers require you to sign that invokes an arbitrator. Probably because even though I have had warranty repairs on a couple vehicles over the years, I gave them the courtesy of allowing them to do their job. The guy working on the car didn't cause my problem, I'd rather have him as an ally not an enemy,
