So I finally got my 98 rm250 back from a buddy of mine. His father actually stole it from me. And tore it all a part but my buddy held on to even after his father moved out of state.

It's a complete basket case now. But i got a starting point at least. Its definitely gonna take some time to rebuild it.

So the back story on it is..... I blew the motor when I was 16 friends father was supposed to rebuild the motor and literally just kept. And used parts off my bike to build his own. Fucked up right. I was 16 years old who steal shit from kids. I don't talk to his father at all. And he knows why. But really good friends with my buddy. Cant blame him for having a shitty father.

Freshly rebuilt carb, fresh oil change, my brother was able to clear out the clogged gas tank line (he has more patience than me apparently) but alas, no spark. I’ll have to order parts because nobody around here carries old tiny honda parts so my hopes of getting it running this weekend are shot.

Call Bob's Honda & Indian 717-938-2556. Indian dealership back in the days of the original Indian Motorcycle and Honda dealership since Hondas early days in the US. No longer a dealer since the economic downturns of recent years but still open doing restorations and hung on to most of their parts stock despite a visit from the guys from American Pickers. Ask for Robin and tell him Chuck gave you their number. The shop is right around the corner from my house and it's like stepping back in time or into a museum. They live right around the corner from me and are good folks. They still had a NOS switch housing complete with wiring for my CB400F when I needed one.

Other alternative is David Silver Spares, just Google him. Mostly in UK but has a shop near Hanover, PA for US customers. He buys out NOS parts from Honda shops around the world and specializes in pre 2001 stuff.

It wouldn't hurt to put one through the wheel

One on each rear wheel would be safer.

Thanks Chuck. There’s a bunch of online suppliers and I used one that was recommended by @spencermarkd I ordered a new coil, plug and kill switch. That’s pretty much all the wiring there is to these small engines anyway. If those don’t get it running, I’m just going to pony up for the 140cc upgrade that comes pretty much as a plug and play kit.

I’ll keep your guys in mind though since this build has fueled my interest in finally finishing my XS750 build.

Beer fueled update on the CT90-140 swap, sorry for the bit of a ramble: it runs, it backfires a whole lot less, and it's a freaking beastttt. The electric start is a game changer, too.

With a 17t front sprocket it pulls up the hill by my house at 40mph in 4th with room to still accelerate faster. Ordering a better air filter (uni two stage foam w/ oil) to hopefully smooth out some of the fueling before I work on tuning the jets more. I pulled the carb on and off probably 7 times today and was done with it haha. I want to do one (hopefully) last jet change and give it all a once over before I try and do a top speed run. Mildly terrified of going faster than 45 on those skinny little wheels.

I think the decelerating pop while overunning the engine going downhill is something I'm just going to have to live with. Going from a 15 to 22.5 pilot jet helped, but it still does it a little bit, and I can't go richer on my pilot jet without causing it to idle like shit. I'm actually going to lean out the pilot next change to get the idle/off idle better, but I'm expecting the popping to get worse.

I was having fun lifting the front tire in first in my garage, can't wait to do it on the road haha so much torque for such a light bike :bikewheelie2::cheers:

    Lol
    He’d be parked for awhile.

Mangosmoothie, one through the rear wheel is not a bad idea but you don’t really need it. Tie downs up front and call it a day. Even the chock is overkill but better to be “safer” than sorry.

Hell I swear you were selling the bike! Good to see you're not.

I looked at the Grenades for the Sporty, but that's about it. Seems like you don't see many of those around.

I decided against it. Figured out a riding schedule where I enjoy my time on my bike more and more each time I ride.

usually do a 4 hour ride on sundays and it’s great.
