Ok, so I've searched and searched and .... you get it. Please give me honest incite other than search. I've searched the shit out of tw and google.

I've decided to go with a 3" lift (even though I don't have my Tacoma yet lol) and out of all the searching I feel its the best route for me right now. It sounds as though if I get Coilovers, UCA's and a leaf pack it would be the best option for 3" lift? Like I posted before this is my first truck and I'm looking to take it to places like Moab, Colorado, etc. It will also be my everyday truck. I will be getting a 2011 DC OR.

Is there a coilover for the tacoma that can give a great lift and also function as a great suspension? I know Fox, and King are two of the best shocks and I've been looking at them, and they say they can be set up to 3.5. Is that the typical max for coilovers? I'm not looking into db lift as it just doesn't make sense after searching. The 6" lift was appealing because I am 6'3", I want it to be taller than me.

If anyone wants to throw some kit ideas as well as what size wheels would work best I'd greatly appreciate it. I was thinking of running the 285/60/18?

I also want to buy the wheels now while they are all on sale at 4wheelonline. So what wheels would you recommend for this coilover lift?

Thanks in advance and I searched a lot (like a week) but only so much makes sense to this noob until I start getting into questions.

Max lift for a 4x4 is 3"....You "can" go higher, but the ride quality will suffer. Other CO's to consider, are sway-a-way, and Icon. Icon has a digressive dampening, wich is good for big hits, but is more firm on the little stuff. Old Man Emu is a tried and true set up, and if your on a budget, consider the Bilstien 5100 set ups.

id go with 285/75/16. i don't think you'd have much sidewall with a 60r18. I wouldn't go higher than a 17" wheel. if you plan on off roading the sidewall is important, especially when airing down the tires.

toytec and ome are good suspension choices and fairly popular here. don't forget you'll need extended brake lines if you go up 3".

a lot of people also run the 5100s set to 0" with OME springs and an AAL in the back.

i'm no suspension expert but thats what my opinion is.

Thanks for the responses. I'm looking to keep it under 3000 for the suspension. I want quality all around.

So 16-17 inch wheels are best for off road? I think 17's would be more preferable but again I don't know much and looking for the experienced opinions.

I had 17" wheels on 265/70 BFGs. It was a good look but I went back down to a 16" wheel on 265/75s for the little bit of extra sidewall. If a good tire was made in 265/75r17 I would have definitely stuck with the 17"s.

Not if you want to run 285's. They have too much backspacing. You need around 4.5".
