I’ve never worn them and have rode multi days before. Not sure how well they work. Any soreness I ever experienced I just contributed to lack of ride time.

There is a critical aspect of taint conditioning if you choose to go chamois-less full time.

No chamois generally = taint of steel. My taint just isn’t conditioned for that. I always wear a chamois - mine breathes fine and adds comfort

I rode the WE the first time whiteout them, had to take the next day off, then i bought some lol. My taint was NOT conditioned.

I dont bother if im riding lift access or shuttling, or single 1-3 hour rides. But for full day rides or a multi day trip for sure.

I'm not really sure why you'd choose to not wear them...

is it a tough guy thing? is all of your furniture at home not padded? do you hate comfort?

I wear a chamois pretty much all the time also. I have a few different ones and tend to not like the thick gel ones, Feel kinda diaperish to me. The thinner foam type are the ones I Prefer.

Agreed, the gel ones are weird, and the thicker foam ones trap moisture and cause issues. That's why I like the old Zoic liners over the newer thicker ones.

I have a pair of SWAT bib liners that were $$$ but my go to for long day rides because they work so much better.

I've never worn them so can't make comparison. Gym shorts and commando in summer time for the breeze.

lol. not a tough guy thing. maybe my taint is conditioned? I love my saddle and I've done multiple epic days without chamois's. Mag 7 in moab on saturday and then WE on Sunday. Taint conditioning I suppose.

My warm-weather magical comfort combo is the following. I simply wear one of top of the other:

    Arsuxeo MTB Shorts from Lightinthebox:
    https://www.lightinthebox.com/en/p/...bicycle-ridding-shorts-pant-wear_p984484.html

    Sponeed padded tights from Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/sponeed-Cycling-Shorts-Anti-Slip-Padding/dp/B01M0PDSZV

Once I figured out what I like, I ordered four pairs of each of the above and they've all lasted a couple of years now.

    Yeah, that what it was.

    20201116_100234.jpg

A few ads pop'd up with those whilst I was checking out gloves. I thought those were for serious road cyclist only. However, 25miles ride with my kids got preeeety unconfortable by the end of the ride

Tis my 1st MTB, the seat on a BMX bike, is just for aesthetics.

*edit* apologies if that images gets flagged as nsfw.

I 100% don't ride enough to condition my taint, but the question still exists as to "why?"

like even if I did ride 5-6 days a week and had taint of steel, I'd still wear pads. that's why I bring up the furniture, I could get used to sleeping on a hard floor but why not have a soft mattress?

Never felt like I needed one. Been riding bikes for a long time and sure, I get saddle sore if I've been off the bike for a while (like during the winter times) but I quickly get past it and feel just perfectly fine. Dunno. I have a Chamois from a pair of shorts I bought a while back but I just leave it in my closet and never tried it because...well...never reallyly felt the urge.

Only reason I have considered going the conditioned-taint route is for multi-day bikepacking rides when washing and drying heavy soiled chamois can become rather annoying. I personally haven't made the switch, but I'll definitely consider it if my bikepacking habit grows beyond 3-day jaunts in the wilderness.
