I'm just burnt out on the 3rd gen. Ready for what's next. Hoping it'll be cool but not expecting it.

That is interesting. I'm just getting comfy. I'll probably get antsy around the time of the 5th Gen or so. Taco EV!

Folks are different and that's what makes it all fun.

You're right. I keep imagining what I would build if I ran the company and I really shouldn't do that.

Tundra, 4Runner, and Tacoma are supposed to release in cadence for MY 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively. The Tacoma is certain to get a hybrid option and new rear suspension. Given the expected bugs, I wont be looking to swap my Tacoma until at least 2026.

Ahh shit. Let's not go there. I keep thinking that I can fix what ails some companies. The longer time goes on, it looks like I could have thrown darts and done as well.

With the Taco, it just needed some easy mods. Like someone said recently, if they won the lottery, they wouldn't trade their Taco. I feel the same. I would just float it to my new, tropical island.

this is what I have heard as well. should get a pretty good idea of the powertrain when the new Lexus NX debuts next year. Rumors have it as a 2.4 Turbo with around 300hp/300+ Lb/FT of torque

Maybe he could shed some light on the rumor that the next taco is going to be a collab with ford - hilux body, taco frame, and a ford drivetrain.

    Curious why the NX?

I'm half wondering about the new Sienna with the 2.5l Hybrid being the 'big' motor.

I feel the 3.5l will still be in the Taco, esp as only Ford has an I4 turbo as the top spec (only spec) at the moment. I don't see Nissan, the Twins, or Honda going smaller. And, Ford will most likely go bigger on the next gen.

It's gonna get strung out to 2030, where they will release an all electric to satisfy the markets that will now be mandating new sales to be electric by then.

It will still have drum brakes because of electric motor Regen.

Yep! I saw a tour on youtube and really like it. It will never happen, but it is between that and a Leopard 48. No space to float the Taco on the Leopard though.

There has been rumor of a Lexus truck based off the Tacoma. I have a feeling this will probably show up with the 4th Gen. Think Limited model with an extra $15-20k worth of options on it.
