Does anyone know if the tune files are encrypted or signed? They must be for the dealer kit but for regular files it doesnt seem like it would if we are all able to freely share them.

I like this one as well. thanks.
Additional protections are in place during flashing to protect your work from being copied off the ECU afterwards.

You can also ask the tune's creator if he/she has kept track of all the changes he/she has made and ask for a verbal step-by-step of what was changed, or if any spreadsheets of the changes were/are able to be created and shared with you to circumvent unlocking an extra ECU ID you may not otherwise need. YMMV with this method, however.

That would be nice...I think long term though having to rely on the author to do that will result waiting.
How many configuration options are most people setting for their tunes? Are people typically messing with the same options over and over each time or are people trying all sorts of different configurations for each tune?
If people are just messing with the same options over and over then I think what we can do is just figure out where the changes are occurring in the saved file for that particular ECU and then apply that change in the saved file for the target ECU. It's just a matter of determining the offsets within a particular tune and then how to map that to a new ECU.

a checklist of commonly changed parameters and why would be nice, I can't imagine people in here, looking for performance gains are changing that many maps.

Yeah my thought exactly. I think what we can build towards is if we can identify the main configuration options being set for these tunes
    1. For each ECU determine where in the tune file that configuration option is saved
    2. Create an ECU "rosetta stone" script that, given a tune file for ECU A and output a tune file for ECU B that can apply the updates made in ECU A
I think we can also benefit from version controlling these so we can keep track of all of the tunes, roll back quickly if needed, and determine what changes are being made.

I haven't been following the AT too closely since I got rid of mine for an MT but even in both camps there seem to be commonalities (more linear throttle, better/adjustable tip-in) and within camps (AT and shifting, TC locking, etc).

I think a handly baseline Excel file was made for AT tuning which I did view at one point. I would ask one of the AT experts.

Edit: I had it saved with some other Excels I downloaded to study. I'm not sure how old nor can I discern or remember who made it, but it's here to save hunting for it in the threads

Thanks for that, @Stormpeacock . I'm indeed a bit behind. It's hard to keep up especially when you can't do anything yet

When people were starting to mess with vF tuner I asked if someone could make a walkthrough video because I was busy.
Two weeks later I decided I should just do that as a contribution to this community and to force myself to learn. So I did.

There have been several separate threads created for specific changes in the performance forum.
Part of what sets people apart in here is keeping up with changes. I've even gone to lengths to document some myself or reach out with specific questions as well as test things myself.

If you are looking for solid premade work based on positive reviews (i.e. a Mooseditty) buy it from him for your needed ECU.
If you want to be able to tune other trucks and have quality customs with vetted changes. You should try everything yourself and do the research in here, and analysis of tunes, to make sure you are doing all the right stuff -- which will further increase knowledge and make your tuning more legitimate.

Don't use that. I've updated it. Check my signature for updated versions.

Also, yes there are some differences in ECUs, you'll want to assess too what OV has done as well or build off of that, so consider his tune packs

Soooo... when I was porting @Mooseditty17 's M+W 3.1 to 04C20 (and again, the test of this new tune is happening tomorrow finally!), I logged every single change, both copying the before and after settings into an Excel doc. So what you're asking for, I kinda just did.

Porting it over, then reviewing every single change again to make sure I didn't F up (keep in mind, I wasn't starting from a OVTune 2.0 tune, I was starting from a Stock file), this shit took me about 8 hours. I'd want to talk to MD before I share it, as I consider this log 'our' IP at this point, and I already kicked him some skrilla as well for providing the M+W 3.1 from which it's based. But based on history, I have a feeling that he'd be okay with me sharing in the open-source format we've got going here, and hope that people who benefit will kick back some skrilla as well, which I would share with him! Keep in mind, there are some differences between the stock tunes, the biggest differences are in the Torque Converter maps, so it's not a direct clone, but it's as close as I could get. I wouldn't want to share it till it's tested, but lemme chat with MD and see his take.

curious to how the tune will come out since afaik there are a lot of changes he made to make 2.0 from stock on maps we can't access.

Because it is a 2020, I would think that the stock file is a pretty good starting point (maybe as good as 2.0). My guess is that this tune is gong to be great with the changes.

    @OVTune

If I wanted to unlock an ECU tune, typically you ask for the Cal ID, Cal File, and Part number...

Im thinking of helping out some others, but instead of making two trips to program, I was hoping they could just go to Autozone or something and borrow a code scanner to pull the file. Would something like the pic be sufficient if to request the tune files..?
