Nice, that's what we do. We have 1gig up/down FiOS. Just use youtube tv for "cable" and I get Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+(which I could care less about) for free with my verizon cell phone plan. It's definitely the way to do IMO. No more 734 channels with 700 of them are like the Norwegian Gardening Channel.

 

How does your Verizon plan get all that free? Does mine !

 

We switched to youtube tv from PS vue. It's great, except that they raised the price $15 a month over the summer and now they dropped nesn. I care about nesn mostly for bruins, which who knows when their next season is, but still irritates me.

 

It's part of the unlimited plan. It would be like $100 for my cell phone (my wife just has a work phone). But you get some off for also having FiOS, we get a corporate discount through work of 8%, and I switched from AT&T (recently) and there were a few more monthly discount offers for switching and bringing by own phone (i've got an unlocked Galaxy S9 cause I cant stomach the whole "leasing" thing all the carriers do now) so monthly bill is ~$76 with tax. That was the same i was paying on AT&T, and before I switched I was paying for Disney+ for the kids. So win-win.

 

Same, i really liked PS VUE. terrible marketing did that in though. The $15 price hike definitely sucked, but it's still cheaper plus no contract. The no NESN sucks, wife is a big hockey fan. But i'm not paying for cable again with 2 year agreements and all that nonsense. Fortunately a lot of the games are on NBC SN.

 

We have unlimited! Its under the boss' name so I'll have to have her look it up! This could be a big saver. We have prime so will have that and these other ones will cover without needing netflix maybe (I know i know all have their own programs) and the daughter will be wanting disney in a couple of years so won't hurt to have on deck.

 

Aren't all pro sports pirateable on that shit hole reddit?

 

Dunno, i've not looked. Probably. My brother in law pirates everything somehow on his XBOX. I'm sure it's possible.

 

Yeah definitely not switching back to cable. Worst case I'll download the nesn app and log in with my old man's info since he still has xfinity

 

I mean I was able to pirate into a UMaine college hockey game a few years back, so if you can do that I assume you can get into the yankees games.

I mean. I have NEVER pirated ANYTHING.

We have Amazon prime, and then on top of that we have Netflix and Hulu. Also have spotify, I'm trying to get my wife into amazon music because I THINK it's cheaper, but from what I've seen you need an additional subscription, they have prime music and then something like prime music plus, which has more music? So not all the music is on the main music service so you need a second music service. so I'll have to actually look at that. I'm not brand loyal, but if it's already included and whatnot, if it saves a few bucks, I can make that hop. She liked spotify for her yoga playlists but she's not teaching as much and might not be teaching in a few years, so we'll see what happens.

 

And Netflix is going up again

 

Yeah it never ends. I’m going to avoid paying for as much of that crap as I can. We don’t watch a ton of tv and no need to start.

 

I think it's because they know they can. Everybody's stuck at home burning through streaming content, so not too many people will cancel over an extra $12 a year.
But, for them...last I knew they had something like 70 million subscribers in the US alone, so just that market base will generate an extra $840 million a year.

Not surprised at Netflix increasing prices. Although they at least are doing stuff with the increased cost. They are cranking out their original content and some real good shows/movies.

Bought the house 2.5 years ago. They did an inspection and found the pipe from the house to the tank was crushed, so that was replaced before purchase. What we didn't know is the tank is only 500 gallons, not the 1250 that it is supposed to be, and apparently the leach field is shot.

Or they can try to steal it and find all those extra neutrals!

OMG... I remember FiOS... I think our internet is broadcast via moose antlers. Typically in the house I have to shut my wifi off so that my 1-2 bars of Verizon can do it's magic and load a web page. SPECTRUM SUCKS.

Amazon Music SUCKS as well! They see that you like song XYZ by so and so, so they take it off your playlist for a few weeks to try to entice you to subscribe to music plus. Their shuffle is also maddening! My girlfriend uses it and the majority of our car rides with her driving are listening to the first .5 seconds of a song as we try to skip to something worth listening to. They base your "shuffle" off how frequently you listen to a song, so they prioritize songs listened to more. The problem is, that .5 seconds of listening also counts as a play-through, so the songs we want to skip end up still prioritized. It's infuriating.

I use Google Play (now Youtube Music) and I love it. I'm an album guy. I don't typically like to shuffle through things. If I'm in the mood for a particular artist, I find an album I like and listen to it entirely.

In the garage I have my definitely not pirated music on my old iPod Classic and iHome dock, and that I will just hit shuffle and see what happens!

 

I have a random question for you DIY home repair experts. I have a double hung window with insulated glass in which the seal for the glass has broken and is letting moisture build up between the panes of glass. They're Harvey windows, built in '96, There's no glazing stop to get the glass out and the sash doesn't look like it'd come apart. On the bottom of the sash, there are screws in the corner facing upwards. If I just pull those screws, will the bottom of the sash come off and allow me to remove the piece of glass? I think you guys see where I'm going with this, I want to replace just the piece of glass rather than mess with the whole window. I'm used to seeing glass with a glazing stop that you remove with a trim tool, but these don't seem to have that...
