I feel like you need to re-read that... :anonymous:
    Sorry, I'm a teacher...

Seating tires and SRAM derailleur adjustments, :angrygirl: Fuck off.

WTF is wrong with you? :der: Put on a goddam chamois. Your poor ass will thank you.

For reals though... I was chamois-less for a season. After a few long weeks it got better, especially after a solid saddle swap. Then, one day... I cased a big-ass drop on a steep landing, and my 'fellas' decided to have a close discussion with the tire and seat stay bridge and I almost castrated myself. Yeah, done with that shit.

@Gunshot-6A , your bike has a belly.

    not enough.
hahahahah. Yeah, I've had a close call before. let's say it hurt to pee for a few days. You'd think that would make my brain rethink the chamois....but then again, i hurt myself while goofing off in my sandals...in a parking lot...not even close to a trail. hahaha.

Tire wasnt bad at all wirh a 15gal compressoe and 150psi in the line., but I lost the collar for my tubeless stem that had the little o ring, so I had to go scour Ace after a few other pinch fixes didnt work.

Wildfire happened a while back at a local trail. One of the trails with nice berms, rollers tabletops etc acted as the perfect fire break. The fire Really opened up so many possibilities for new trails. Went down and helped build/rebuild the flow trail. Recent rain made for perfect trail building.

Somebody help me here. Trying to get this clapped-out DH bike tuned up and having derailleur hanger issues. Per the below picture notice the weird "extra hanger" (blue circle) mounted to the actual derailleur hanger (Yellow arrow) . Is this an adaptor because short cage? This extra pivot piece is swinging the derailleur into the bottom of the chainstay and making so much noise it cannot be correct. I am wondering if I can simply mount the derailleur directly onto frame hanger versus the extra middle piece currently present

Is that a shadow derailleur? Shimano created the direct mount hanger back then that was supposed to make the shadow derailleur better. Something like that. This article explains it better. My XT 11-speed also has the extra link but it’s oriented a little differently than your picture. Mine is the rear versus yours being down. This might not apply if it’s not shadow but I can’t tell if there is a lever or not in the picture.

edit: the orientation looks correct compared to other google pictures. Maybe the b-tension?

A lot of old derailleurs had a "b link" which is basically a two piece hanger design. Looks like that is the case here.

I *think* they make 1 piece conversions

You sure the derailleur is mounted correctly? It looks like the B-screw notch might not be under the notch in the hanger. Does that make sense?

I am optimistic I found the issue. It appears there is a notch (metal shavings) in the OEM hanger where the B-screw notch is supposed to sit against. This would allow the derailleur to screw forward since there is no "shelf" to sit on

    I guess? I ordered a new hanger.

my limited bike knowledge says order a new hangar. my patrol hangar had some wear like that, not as bad. i was skipping gears on the low and high end. b limit, tension, straighten the hangar, none of it fixed it completely. new hangar on and done, shifts great now.

You should order two new hangers. It’s a good idea to always carry a spare hanger in your pack.
