You don't need one of those silly pieces of paper in NC and the surrounding states. Plus moving well there are certain documents that protect free travel and moving. They aren't locking down again still "phase 3" (whatever these stupid phases are), like @Bannerman Said. I wouldn't worry too much about it until after Jan

Her current T4R has 250,000 on the clock and will be my "work" vehicle to keep miles off my truck when I travel to jobsites. She has been wanting a 5th Gen for years so if we can make it work space-wise, I bet that's what she picks.

Let her make the choice seeing my mom "settle" for cars she didn't really like and now finally getting the outback this is probably the most excited she's been for a vehicle.

Not a big deal, wouldn't have worked out logistically anyway but thanks for the offer!

Got my official clear to close for tomorrow. By noon I should be a NC homeowner. Then the fun begins of switching everything over to here.

Am I reading the NC DMV website right that the plate/registration and drivers licences facility's are two different buildings?

Yes License plate agency is a 3rd party company that does the registrations, license plates, and titles. The people there are not government employees and know about as much as an ant when it comes to the title, plate, and registration laws if you ever have something funky they haven't seen before it's a hassle.
The DMV drivers license office is where you get your license and well same rule applies to them. NC is going to this real ID thing so you may end up needing birth certificate, bill, SS card, etc to get a drivers license.

go to the license plate agency in Newton off hwy 70 once you have your drivers license...it's the best one around, typically in and out fairly quickly...just don't go at the middle or end of the month, that's when all the registration renewal fucktards rush in because they can't fucking figure out how to do it online.

or you could go to the DMV in Taylorsville and then go to the tag office right down the road...typically they are not busy at either one, it would just be a bit further for you to drive though.

it's pretty straight forward. Just need the last 5 digits of your title # (listed on the registration) and your tag number...

I know and it still pops up a no go. Even trying to do my personalized plate the other month it did it. IDK why but it literally take 5 min there is a separate line for us tards that do it in the building and it's 2 miles from my apartment.

the one I went to in Gastonia last week was FCFS, so whatever order people came in is how they got served...didn't make much sense, but I was still in and out in an hour and got an instant title as well, so I didn't have to wait on USPS to lose it.
