Not sure if this will help, but I've got a new, basically stock still, prerunner, and I've noticed the same sort of vibration feelings when it's starting out cold. It kind of felt like it was originating from the tires to me.

I remember seeing a TSB that addressed newer drive shafts. May want to check that out.

My thoughts exactly I don't expect toyota to address this at all. I am not sure the problem in this thread is the same one I have or not, sounds a lot like it. The vibe is not directly proportional to revolutions of the wheel and is a grown that can be felt in the wheel. I have my front diff in pieces right now and believe that it the "toyota diff problem" is the drivers side needle bearing that the inner cv rides on when not under load. When I get mine put back together I'll let you know if it's fixed.

I don't mean to jump to drastic concussions either I don't believe this could cause catastrophic failure so check the easy cheap stuff first good luck.

ok well the carrier bearing spacer kit is cheaper at $11, i'll try it first, then if that doesn't do anything i'll diff drop, and then if that doesn't do anything i'll run my truck into the first hybrid i see:D

I noticed the slight humming/vibration right after i put the new shocks on so i called the store where i got the shocks from and they said (well i actually called 2 of the same offroad warehouses) and 1 store guy said they highly recommend using a spacer for the front diff but he wanted like 75 bucks and i called another offroad warehouse in a different city and that guy told me that they've never used spacers and that i shouldn't need one... kind of conflicting stories. now i think im going to try see if the torque is the same of both sides and see what happens. only problem is i don't know what the exact torque should be!!! if i cant find it i'll just tighten them up the same

yeah i didn't "torque" any of mine, just tightened them down as much as i could, it's not like were working with aluminuim or critical engine parts, just crank em down;)

Diff drops seem to seldom cure vibrations, from what I've read, and very often create new vibrations that are often worse than those which were originially experienced.

    YMMV

back from the dead my vibes are only happening when my truck is cold, it seems that once the truck warms up (front gear oil i assume) the vibes are gone, i dont get it, i just changed it over to M1 full synthetic a few months ago, do you think switching to a lighter oil in the front diff would help this issue?

this is assuming the front diff is the problem, my tires shake the wheel a hair when they're cold but this vibration i can feel in the floor board

do you have any updates in regards to the vibration issue since last year? I have the same setup (5100s @ 1.75 and no TSB or AAL in the rear). Just changed all my diff fluids to M1 synthetic a little over a month ago and I now have that same exact pulsing vibration between 30-40 and only when the truck is run from a cold start. CB drop kit did nothing. Contemplating the front diff drop kit and/or switching front diff (or all) fluids to royal purple. Any help would be much appreciated.
