I dont think theres much negotiation period, as they cant hold inventory, at least that is here. Ask what the costco discount is (even if you're not a member) and if its good, then join costoco, lol.

Ordered my 2021 Trd Off Road DC auto back in earley September. Came in last week. They let me order a truck even with costco pricing. Sticker $39108 sold it to me for $36000. Only tax and plates on that no other fees. Used 1.9% Toyota financing and setup a dividend portfolio paying 6+% with a beta <1 with the money. Knocks a few more thousand off over the 60 months. Demand is high, so pricing isnt great, but I had to buy a car and a Tacoma was what I wanted. I love the truck, and thats whats important...

Sorry, it a 4x4 with Toyota tonneau cover and mud guards and sill protection

I financed with my Local credit union, Sun Coast Credit Union at 3.2. I asked if they could take that garbage off but they said they couldn't. Oh welll....

Nice, then they didn't get any rebates from TFS either on that deal, they definitely lost money then, that's below invoice and holdback, etc. Hard to achieve even before the pandemic. Nice work.

If I bought a Tacoma from this dealership in Naples, FL and paid $1,000 to have it shipped to So. Cal, I would still get a way better deal than what any dealerships are offering me locally.

Comparably equiped a M/T is basically $2K less than A/T. Everything else is the same.

My built price is in the same ballpark. I am guessing mine will arrive sometime in January.

Need a little clarification. The MSRP numbers you guys are providing in item #2.

On the actual sticker, is that the top number or bottom number? See the example sticker below.

Would it be 35,335 or 42,002?

Anybody know what the invoice prices are for these ‘21 Tacoma’s OR 4x4? Went to a dealer here in SoCal and was told it was 38.5K on a 40K MSRP. Asked their fleet price and was told that was also MSRP. Walked out as I wasn’t trying to get screwed on a deal.

From my experience, invoice price is not what it once was. It is close to MSRP and then the rest of the profit to the dealer is in the form of holdbacks and dealer incentives. That way, the dealers can hold an invoice price sale which is a mere 4% off MSRP. Still in a crazy market like California where people will pay thousands over MSRP to get their truck how they want it and when they want it, it can be a good deal.

I picked up a cement 21 OR DCSB MT, came with blackout package, door sills and mats, mudflaps, and the first tech package, whatever that was. In the end it was 40k... I went to a dealer in New Mexico, seeing as how California has some wonky laws about car buying. I really didn’t want to have to deal with a dealer out here just because if you find what you want they don’t allow you to put a deposit on it. So I went east. Then, I drove it back, learned all about the ridiculousness of the dmv out here. Brand new truck, driven in over the state line needs to be verified by the dmv, smogged at a authorized smog station and weighed (at the dump).

That's too bad. Kind of surprised to hear this. CaliKat on this forum said they had no issues buying from a dealer in AZ as the dealer figured out the CA tax/title/license paperwork, then paid to have them smog it once they got back into CA. Was this not your experience or did the dealer in NM not offer such a service? I am debating going this route as well but not if it is more hassle than good.

It’s the weighing that’s really stupid. I brought my 1978 Chevy PU to California in 1981 and had to do the same thing. Even though the weight and GVWR is fully specified by the manufacturer I had to go to a government licensed weigh station and pay a fee to get it “officially” weighed. That is one reason I do not live in California anymore. However, I would still go through it to save thousands of dollars. And by the way, no more Chevy trucks for me. Ball joints at 40k, transmission at 70k and head gasket at 100k. Simply not reliable enough.

In the end I should’ve just had it delivered and apparently that would have been no problem. I initially was going for a blue truck, and ended up working with a sales person that both found me another truck, and was just a genuine person. That truck, a 20, got sold, like the blue one. But he said they were getting a 21 with the things I wanted, off road, and manual. It was built on sept 30. I had some business to attend to in az, so I decided I wanted to drive to New Mexico. It was really beautiful. I’ve had past issues with dealers here, mostly because I want specific things, manual, diesel, GTI special edition. I don’t like how they railroad into showing up immediately, I end up driving 250 miles to pick up as it is. So when I put down 1k, and they hold it for 2 weeks, I was happy. I knew bringing it into Cali, I would have to register it etc, but the verify, smog and weight seems ridiculous I don’t feel like I had “bad” experience, the dealer is still helping me out.20CA8ED3-2426-445C-84BE-755E9EEEB180.jpg

I am SO glad I don't live in CA. Too many ridiculous regulations, many of which just fills the coffers of the govt. under the guise of 'environment' and 'safety'.

I may have something pinned down here and am looking for confirmation that this is the right call:

TRD OR DCSB MT, Cement, LED Headlights, All weather floor liners/door sill MSRP $37,358
OTD (incentives and dealer discount, $2500 for my 4runner trade-in, and TTL included) $35,200 - I don't have this itemized yet so I don't know what the breakdown is.

These things are selling before they get to the dealerships around here so I don't know if there's much more room at this time. Any thoughts on if December's incentives will beat the $1,000 offer right now?
