I love my old 1st gen Tacoma much like many of us here, and I was looking into potentially replacing my worn tail gate emblems since they are looking a bit shabby. See below:

    upload_2020-11-17_12-20-11.jpg

Of course I always like to go with OEM parts whenever available, but much to my dismay it doesnt seem they still make these (Toyota Part Numbers PT211-TC980 or PT211-TT980) any longer.

So I hit the ebay in a haste and was totally stunned to see the prices on these and some other 1st gen parts going for astronomical prices..

Check this out this Toyota and Tacoma emblem set for $1000 for example, yowsah!

What other rare pricey parts are out there? Now I am curious to see how much have you guys have paid or would you pay for a hard to find OEM part?

I will share mine to start.. I paid happily $500 for a pair of the elusive SRunner Sport bucket seats.

    20200926_172651.jpg

These were only found in the 2000-04 SRunner's or Tacoma's with the "Limited" option package. They added a bunch of comfort and lateral support, lap height adjustment, and a power driver side lumbar (that I havent wired up).

So if you will indulge me please, what other stories of first gen "gold" do we have out there?!

Edit: See some examples discussed below..

I recon it would depend on how bad it is. If it just needs a good polish, you can likely do it while it's still on the vehicle.

Quite a bit of items for sale on Ebay are scams or just skyrocket prices to further nefariousness. You can list anything for whatever price you want, does not mean they sell for it though -

As stated, Toyota has phased out several parts/items making prices go up on what is really oem left overs.

$90 for oem plastic driver side trim, door weatherstripping 180$ Are a few things I need but just not ready to :spending:

I read somewhere that for a vendor on ebay it is easier to raise the price while they are out of stock than to delete the item for sale and repost. I read this on the internet so it must be true.

Not sure if the point is sinking in here fully.. there are folks on ebay that seem to think the first gen Tacoma is going to be the one of the most sought after parts vehicles of all time!!

Check this out, you can still get an OEM bed if you don't mind dishing out $8,122!!

Or probably a good idea to have an extra frame laying around depending what area you live in.. scoop it up here for a measly $7,917!!

I am certain there is a long line of folks that need the catalytic converter for their 2.4L, better act fast if you want this one for a mere $2,012 bucks!

Forget these huge parts though maybe all you need is an ABS switch, of course this is much more affordable sitting at just $1,997!!

I wonder how much it would cost to build a completely new Tacoma out of all ebay parts....

I contacted a place that does those coatings, they said since it was plastic they couldn't do anything.

Debadged my truck when I had it repainted. Since I liked the debadged look, I threw the emblems away

Damn, should have made some money with them on ebay:rofl:

I really need or want a sunroof cover for the inside of the cab but they’re expensive as hell. Something like $400 last I checked if they even carry one. I really just need to make my own.
