Taco Tabs Front Alignment Kit

After I wrote that, it occurred to me that moving both tabs the same amount should keep the caster the same. I just really like having the left caster less than the right because the truck will pull to the side with the least caster and the most camber.

 

Definitely have taco lean issues. The left/driver side is about 1" lower than the right side, the last time I checked. I could crank up the driver side coilover, but I was trying to avoid having a huge discrepancy between the two coilovers "preload".

 

It's pretty common practice to have a preload difference to compensate for taco lean. I don't because I'm lazy and live with the lean, but a bunch of others do.

If I remember right, I already have about a 1/4" preload difference. I thought I wrote it down somewhere, but who knows where that is right now.

I've grown to deal w/ the current setup too. Symmetry is something I've accepted won't be happening w/ all areas of the truck.

I could. That's easy enough. But, do you think I'd gain all of the right side camber numbers back by going up another 1/4-1/2"?

 

It’s impossible to say how much a change here and a change there will affect the numbers, but overall, I’m guessing lower the right 2 bits, raise the left 1 bit, and move the right front cam inward. That should make a substantial improvement over what you have now.

 

I apologize. My numbers are based on long travel control arms. You should be closer to +4°caster and -1.5 camber if you set for max caster/ neutral camber.

 

Oh I thought you meant in lieu of doing the tab change. Tracking now.

 

Here’s something worth mentioning. Lean will affect alignment numbers with no change in suspension height on the culprit side. Imagine suspension with equal length upper and lower control arms. Draw an imaginary vertical line through the right upper and lower control arm bushings. Now let 15 lbs of air out of the left tire. Now that vertical imaginary line is leaned to the left resulting in negative camber on the right.

 

Swapped out the front tab last night. Going to check alignment on Thursday at 8am, so we'll see what the numbers look like.

 

Here’s the new numbers. Before and after the toe adjustment. Pretty much as they claim, in terms of degrees of adjustment between tabs.

Are you just going to leave it at this point? Looks like pretty good numbers. Could always bring the rear bolt to neutral and get more positive camber and lower your caster a little but may not be worth the effort.

 

That’s not too bad. It may have a little more pull to the left than ideal, but that should only be a slight issue when you’re driving on the left side of the road. You made no mention of whether you adjusted the coilovers. Assuming you didn’t, adjusting them to level out the truck would make the alignment really nice. Of coarse, you’ll have to reset the toe in afterwards.

I think I’m going to just leave it. I’d like to have them closer together, but Like you said, I dont think it’s worth the effort. If I had endless (free) access to an alignment machine I’d play around with it more. More tabs would also be nice. But I think it’s good enough for now.

 

I didn’t adjust the coilovers. I wanted to make one adjustment at a time and see what difference this made on its own.
I figured when I change my steering rack and tie rods I’ll bring the front driver side up at that time since I’ll be going for another alignment anyway.

 

Installed mine a few weeks ago and finally got around to getting an alignment. It pulls right a bit. Thinking of lowering passenger /increasing driver camber tabs. Thoughts?

 

According to the printout, it should be pulling to the left fairly hard.

 

which is why I’m asking hah!. It pulls to the right. I have cooper ST Maxx’s which are hit or miss pulling right so idk where to start.

 

swap the front tires side to side and see what happens.
