I have a 2015 and the driver side window rattles when it's partially down, before I open up the door panel - is this a common issue with an easy fix?

Although not your exact same issue my window would 'clunk' when rolling down near the top. I had the door panel off for a sound deadening project and found one of the screws on the back of the window rail had completely come out and was laying in the bottom of the door. Popped that bad boy back in and all was well. If your window is rattling I would start with checking all the screws that hold the window to the slide rail. Very easy to check at least.

2010 here. Have had this issue since I bought the truck new. I just learned that if you roll it up just right, it’ll stop rattling

Mine used to do this. I pulled the window rubber track molding on the front (vertical portion near the mirror) and pinched the metal together a little closer. Then re-fitted the rubber and the rattle disappeared. Doing this just helps the rubber support the glass better.

That makes sense. Happen to have any pictures of how it comes apart?

Fixed mine years ago after the dealer played stupid and shrugged their shoulders at my claim.... pull off the triangle plastic piece, shim the rubber track molding so it fits tighter on the window....I used a .030" thick piece of cardboard (not from a cardboard box, but the cardboard from the back of a notepad) for a shim.... then put triangle piece back on.....

....I have said it before and I will say it again, the quality of my 2005 Tacoma far exceeded the quality of my 2015....

My 2009 driver’s side window does this and it drives me nuts... I’ve found the one or two positions I can have the window rolled down to that doesn’t rattle, but it’s still super annoying.

I’ve even removed the door panel and tried to tighten every bolt on the window track and it didn’t help at all. I’ll have to see if I can shim the rubber track molding. Eliminating the annoying rattle would be a huge relief!

2011 AC, did the same thing. Remove the door panel, lower the window until bottom rail is in the opening in the door, tighten the bolt(s) and you are done. 20 minutes tops. Been over a year and still no rattle/clunk.

I agree. Clearly, the tooling was at the end of its run, the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired on the later 2nd gen platform years.

No pics but you cant go wrong really. Just get the rubber tighter on the glass and you'll be good.

Which triangle piece? The side mirror triangle piece?

I think so. I took all the door trim off this morning. Tightened the 2 nuts that hold the window track. (Below the 3 mirror nuts and above the speaker)

That helped a little bit but not much. It's looking like I'm going to need wayyy more than 0.030" to shim the window trim right next to the triangle trim thing. Not sure what else he could be talking about. There's really not much to see

Oh I get it now. Wasn't quite able to see everything at first cause the sun was right in my eyes. But yeah just pop the triangle piece off and put a small shim in there.

0.030" wouldn't have been enough for me, but 0.125" was too much. Ended up folding a piece of plastic bottle over so it kind of makes a springy thing. That seems perfect. About 1/16" when it's fully folded but it can spring out more

And that's solved your rattle? If you're just removing that tweeter cover do you need to remove the whole door card? I just hate popping those off because I tend to break every tab

If we all had 8-Track tape players, we’d have a whole assortment of guitar pics, popsicle sticks & maybe even a rat tail comb or two. Had to have good quality shims.
