Has anyone been able to find a bed rack for a RTT that also allows you to still use/open the Tacoma Tonneau backflip cover?

I just bought my truck recently and am planning to build it out for light overlanding and car camping. I just finished up a 3,000 mile camping trip with a ground tent and a couple 50 gal tubs in the bed for gear.

I’m still deciding between a camper shell and a drawer build or going with a RTT. Any help with a bed rack that works with the Tonneau Backflip is appreciated.

    Cheers

KB voodoo seems to be the predominate answer.

KB Voodoo is the only one I'm aware of. You still cannot open the cover while the rack is on, however, but you can open the tailgate and still have everything protected.

Thanks for the response. That’s all I’ve been able to find online as well. If I can’t find a bed rack that opens with a RTT I may build a drawer system so that I can still access everything under the cover

As far as a full bed rack, kb voodoo makes adapter feet to sit over foldable/roll up covers. Both Kb voodoo and uptop overland make bed racks that work with a retrax system. Voodoo and mobtown make bars that work over foldable/roll top covers

Yeah. Unless you go with a paragon cover, or similar, you won't be able to find anything because of the location where the supports have to sit in order to be strongest. Crawling in was a pain, especially with a bike rack on like I had, but still doable. A drawer system wouldn't be terrible.

Nice find! But I don't see the point of only being able to open the cap about 2-3 inches.

We have a rack that allows a folding cover to open: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/utility-rack-for-tonneau-covers

But the pins on your factory cover may interfere with with the mounting feet of the rack. We have not personally tested this on a Tacoma with the factory cover.

Good find! I’ll have to check it out more. I took a quick look and it looks like I wouldn’t be able to open the cover from the video, but It’s another option for a rack that is compatible with the backflip cover

I may have to look into changing out the cover. I don’t want to move to a roll up cover because I want something that’ll lock and keep my bed safe while I’m at the gas station/hiking/etc. I’ll look into the peragon!

Yeah that would still be an issue based on the video. I’d still have to crawl into the bed under the cover or build out a drawer system with it

We now have brackets that allow our racks to work with RetraxONE covers: https://www.max-modular.com/shop-max-modular/retraxone-xr-brackets

The cover will be fully functional with the rack installed.

This looks like a solid option. Is there a solution for the issue regarding pins interfering with the mounting feet of the rack? I feel like this would be a big problem?

Crap, yes I completely forgot about that. Completely blanked on how racks attach.

    Nothing...yet
I have the RCI Metalworks with 15” with Tonneau Adapters. Works great with my Backflip Revolver X2. I have full usage of the cover and it provides a great shelf for when I am camping. FBEFFBF3-5A19-4CA0-A898-20649F5442A6.jpg

Awesome setup! Any chance you have a picture of the rack with the cover flipped open?
