Gadget sent me a new ring and a retaining clip.... But about 500 miles after taking shit apart only to put it back together, it magically stopped making that noise. :goingcrazy:

@Gadget29 not sure if you're willing to chime in?

All noises aside, the clutch has always engaged and disengaged great. No complaints!

Just spoke with him he said he will take a look at my videos he picked up on a Saturday so that’s always nice. Are you saying your noise went away 500 miles after you replaced those parts?

No, I haven't replaced anything. It just went away 500 miles after we took it apart that second time
I have the extra adapter ring on my desk lol

Apparently since I posted the above I’ve done something to receive some bad karma. In September I tore my Achilles’ tendon requiring surgery. Fortunately, it was my left foot and I have still been able to drive. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to drive anything with a third pedal. It’s been 2 months since I’ve driven my Taco and probably will be several more weeks.

I didn’t post this for your sympathy, but to remind everyone not to take for granted the enjoyment of driving stick. I’ll be ecstatic to get out of my wife’s car and back into the Taco. The big smile and excitement I had when I picked up the truck in May will be back and won’t go away for a very long time.:D

i had the wave ring fail and it was a similar sound but it's still hard to compare from the vid. my sound got worse for about 2 weeks then became inconsistent, then began to disappear. but i wasn't having it, so we opened it, replaced the ring from URD and the TOB a second time, and the sound hasn't come back. now about 11k miles later we just it opened up for the bolt issue and inspected everything, no wear issues or anything, all good.

word on the street from everyone i ask is that the wave ring spacer isn't a fatal deal if it gets to spinning. but cannot get more info beyond opinions. seemed it made noise after it loosened enough to spin, then needed some noisy miles to wear it down into a quiet condition. all speculative.

@Jason J had an opinion on this if i remember correctly.

i badly sprained my left ankle last year and couldn't drive for weeks. i was so restless that i actually did the steering wheel stitch cover. so i got to sit in the truck and stay busy for several hours.

I’m in a similar, but taller boot. Probably better for my recovery that it’s too big to work the clutch while wearing.

My list of interior mods has increased since I have only been able to sit in it. New seat covers come next week. I was in it this morning thinking I might need a center console Molle panel.

I haven’t been able to sweet talk my wife into taking me for a ride in it. Guess she just doesn’t understand.

i think you're asking how did it feel with the bolt issue?

hard to say exactly. previous ~800 miles shifting was really difficult, but clutch seemed normal. the pedal showed uneven effort through travel the morning i dropped it off, but not in a huge way. i just got ultra lucky on the timing. the fucker was totally falling apart as i drove into the shop. and i didn't even know.

Yeah that's what I was curious of. Wow... I should probably peak into my clutch assembly and make sure it's still on one piece

there is a window to peek and see if your plate fingers are steady or not. Pablo got it on the lift and saw that problem in under a minute. then he wouldn't give back the truck after seeing the fingers wobbling.

I bought my 6MT MGM TRD-OR in July and then came here and read every single post in this thread...

This is my third vehicle, second manual, and first truck. My last car was a 2011 Mini Cooper S Clubman with 6 speed manual. The Tacoma is quite a bit different, but so far I'm loving it.

I don't recall seeing anyone else in this thread mention owning a Mini, but they are also one of the few remaining manufacturers that still produce a decent amount of manuals.
