Yeah Id like to think that for 1/10th that price it can be achieved DIY. And I'm old/experienced enough but also young enough to be technology savy and not a boomer that asks their grandkids to setup their new computer, or how to use a smartphone for the first time lol. :anonymous:

This has to be one of my favorite threads on TW. Everyone with the 2TR-FE dreams of swapping our trucks since they’re so damn slow it’s awesome that you’re actually doing it!

I almost went with a compushift until the cart price went through the roof after all the required add ons. Then I realized how easy the a340 is.

A good regear can make a big difference but I wanted alittle bit more lol.

did you have any luck making pore power with any other mods? I did the secondary air filter delete but it’s still slow as hell. As far as I know you can’t make that much more power with even an exhaust, intake and turbo

The turbo was fun and had plenty of power but there was alot of unknown for me so when I was wide open I couldn't fully enjoy it. The v8 will make around what I wanted stock and allow me to bang rev limiter all day. Are you a manual or an auto?

Luckily manual. I’ve been looking around for a V6 extended cab but those trucks are so hard to find for a good price.

 Fascinating project. My 2nd generation 2.7l with manual transmission is fast enough. If I don't pay attention it goes 80mph. That's fast enough I understand F = MV2.

I feel like its once you add bigger tires and armor is when you start to feel it. My truck originally came with something like a 27" tire because it's a 5 lug and it had 3:53 gears. Once I went to 33s it slowed down a bit.

Probably true. I've had to use 3 gear at 4500 rpm to maintain 60mph up a mountain pass, but that's ok, no problem in the right rpm range.
Too much power I might get too wild. My cousin rented a 911 once and let me drive it. 80 mph faster than I can tell about it, never went beyone 2nd gear. I knew better than to open the throttle all the way too. Hmmm 25mph zone, I better try the brakes, stops fast without being scary.

Were you able to retain the A/C? There's a lot of things I'm willing to do without in a vehicle, but A/C is not one of them!

I will have ac it's just in the second phase. I'm fat and live in South Florida... I need ac lol. The compressor is wired but I'm waiting because I will need to make some new soft lines.

And how did swap the 5-lug drums onto the 6-lug rear axle? Was this difficult? I don't want to go all out on my trusty little truck, but I'd love to have a legit locking rear differential instead of a brake-actuated "fake posi" auto-LSD; What gear ratio does your truck have?

I actually saw a 1980s Toyota pickup with some sort of Lexus V8 in it at a car show; Mated to a 5-speed/3-pedal millennial anti-theft device!

Are you gonna put A/C in it? The one I saw was 100% street legal and had passed both emissions and safety inspections here in PA, but it was a stripped-down, no-frills sports car with a bed; It had a stereo system, but no A/C or heat.
