Simple question with a hopefully simple answer on vent visors:

I do a bit of hunting and backcountry work which leads to me siting in my truck for hours at a time taking notes or looking through binos with the windows open. It sucks when it's raining so I'm going to get some vent visors. It seems every single vent visor 'keeps rain out when the window is cracked'. What about when windows are down and the truck is parked? This should be an easy question but damned if I can find anything definitive.

Those of you with vent visors (AVS/weathertech/other): Do they stop most/all of the rain dripping into the cab when the windows are completely open? Can anyone confirm a brand that does?

That's gunna depend way too much on the type of rain. I've had vent visors on alot of vehicles in the past but not on a Tacoma. Outta all the ones I've installed the AVS on my 93 astro were the best. They made an extra wide version that could get my about 4in crossed down, but I live in the PNW and we get alot of different types of rain

Fair nuf, I guess for the sake of the argument lets say light to moderate rain with minimal wind. The sort of rain that's annoying but not quite enough to call it a day.

Oh that's pretty much a normal everyday day here compared to when I lived on the east coast.

With those AVS extra wide, I could get about 2/3 the way down in the Astro. But never ALL the way down. It would have to be a light mist barely turning into actual drops for me to have the window almost all the way down

    Ppppsssssshhhh

Why would the NEW WORLD ORDER waste the effort bringing the Japanese mafia into it when there's already a weather changing machine in WV Appalachia:spy:

Dammit. I was expecting that answer. Hard to believe they designed a backcountry truck and didn't think to stop it getting wet inside.

I think they would expect you to utilize the windows by rolling them up when it rains.

I wonder if you could build a little shade with some cloth and some magnets to slap up there while you're sitting out there.

That's why you convert everything to vinyl on the inside

I'm only half joking with that though .. I miss that 93 Chevy so much cause everything was vinyl and plastic on the inside, I could hose that puppy down when I tracked mud all through it. I'm going to do it in my tacoma. Rockauto sells a good price on a vinyl carpet replacement, and they make vinyl aftermarket seats (that aren't cheap lol)

And I'm a crazy person and plan to pull the headliner and door cards and surface those in vinyl as well.... there's something oddly satisfying with being able to take a hose to the interior of you truck :anonymous:

Why be efficiently smart when you can be inefficiently clever?

I guess I'll go with some in channels and deal with indignity of rolling my windows halfway up.

In all honesty I kinda wish I had manual windows without any electronics in the door. Water dripping onto (into?) the buttons and shorting/rusting things out is half the concern.
