    I have hopes these well be a decent once made for the single vvti 1gr. Many mopar peps like them for whatever that's worth. They seem to have a higher percentage of a increased output and reliability vs the accel ones if you just focus on the mopar side.

    LSK race long travel, King 2.5x10 coilovers, 2.5x10 bypasses and 2.0 bumps. 2.5 Tundra fox rear DSC shocks, Icon RXT pack, Icon bump stops. 4.88 w/ TruTrac. AFE Y Pipe, URD cat-back. CSF radiator, OVT 91 tune, Ripp coil packs.
    I will let you know how they hold up. I have the stock ones in the truck for back up just in case anything happens. I might take the top part of the intake manifold off sometime to get a little more slack on the driver front connector, but for right now everything seems good.

    I've been following these for a little while. I wasn't sure how they'd fare out for the single VVT 4.0 but it appears that they do fit with a little coercion.

    I have had a few days to test them out and get some miles on them. Just filled up a full tank last night so we will see how this tank lasts (they claim better fuel economy). I will say that the throttle response is the most noticeable. It is not a huge amount like running a pedal commander, but noticeable enough from before to after. I am running an OV 91 tune on the truck and have been for a while. These next two might be just placebo effect not sure if they are really there or not, but engine seems smoother and there is maybe a hit of extra pull in the higher RPM range. I am actually happy with them for the throttle response alone. Waiting to see the fuel mileage. I fill up at 1/4 and I normally get around 170-180 miles for 3/4 of a tank with my 35's and long travel.

    Curious. How are these "better" than OEM coils? Higher voltage spike on the secondary? Faster ramp? (Is that a good thing?)

    Could have better protection of the signal and maybe a larger gauge. I'm not sure. Just a guess. But I'm only going off of the mopar peps. I feel like the oem coils are great quality however (Toyota/denso not mopar)

    Yeah, didn't put much stock in the HP claims for the coils. Amazes me that folks would want to replace something that works well with an aftermarket product that does not even fit correctly, pretty much assuring you problems with reliability, and in this case introducing more electrical noise that can mess with your sensors and ECU.

    I got the ones for the 4.0, them being longer isnt the issue. The issue I ran into is the the bolt hole to lock them down is on the oppisite side so they are positioned like the factory ones are, but that is due to them being for the 4runner not the Tacoma. They will work as you can see but is does take some finessing to get the connectors on. Unless you really want them now just wait for the Tacoma specific ones so there are now issues.

    To be fair it is my fault that it is the wrong part. It does clearly say on their website that is is for the 4.0 4Runners and I assumed that is was the same coil pack. They are making some that are Tacoma specific.

    Did you hear this from RIPP? I am interested but last I checked the part numbers for coils were different between the 2.7 & 4.0. I hope they are compatible, my originals have 270k on them and it’d be a good time to upgrade

    @BassAckwards damn, i should have taken a screen shot because I had c&p'ed that directly from their website. But yes, initially, the description said for both the 2nd Gen v6 and i4.

    But now the link has been updated to be Toyota V6 instead of just 2nd Gen and doesnt show compatibility to the 2.7L I4. Best to give them a call.... I'm going to edit my post above.
