Decided not to get my tire pressure sensors replaced. Too expensive.

The dealer where I have always had it serviced wanted $700. A discounted price. Also, when I had them check why the amber lenses on my headlights had disfigured they told me I would have to purchase new head lamps at about $900. I think I heard you can replace the bulbs with LEDs that will at least not make the problem worse. Any comments?

 

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I believe there was a Recall on that year of headlights. And nobody buys TPMS Sensors from a Dealer.

 

Both prices are way to high and don't put LED bulbs in your truck.

Dealer here only charges $110 per tire for TPMS sensors. Had my headlights replaced when they melted. They didn’t use the new ones with glass lens and they’re melted again.

 

I have a 2013 and got the TRD "Beadlock" wheels. Will this work with them? I'll get new tires soon and wouldn't mind getting rid of the amber light. Thanks!

You can buy sensors on Amazon for $20-$25 each. Any tire shop will replace them free when you buy new tires. It isn't any extra work when mounting tires anyway. If not buying new tires most shops will do it for $10-$20 per tire.

 

Will the TPMS system see the new sensors with no problems or is there some kind of super secret computer program code that has to be entered? I'm running around with that light blinking at me now. I cut out a piece of black felt from my wife's sewing closet to block it out.

 

Thanks for the info! I'm putting a new lift on and will want bigger tires than my 2657516 Cooper AT3's. It'll be a good time to install these.

You will have to have them initialized to the vehicle and programmed. But any tire shop can do that for you.

 

When I bought wheels/tires for my wife's Corolla The TireRack installed the sensors for $192. $700 seems high.

 

Why would anyone be surprised the dealer is ripping off customers ?

 

My 2011 has been in service since 2010 and (so far) original TPMS sensors are still working. It is my understanding that they normally crap out after 6-7 years so I am hoping for the best. When I had a flat fixed over the summer I asked local tire shop about cost to replace and was told $ 40-50 each with labor, re-balance, & TPMS reset.
