Well of course not, but baiting sure improves the odds, Any "Doornob" can bait and harvest a nice deer, however I can't see them being called a Hunter, Hunters put in a lot of time & study their craft, they learn how to hunt!! Are Baited deer allowed in the record book? jmop

only thing better would have been if you tried to bag the buck and knock off a piece at the same time...

Baited deer are allowed in pope and young, I have one there that was standing in a corn pile. Shot him with a compound bow with 2 other bucks standing right beside him.

    You think it was easy?

If you shoot a buck chasing a doe is that considered hunting over bait?

    Asking for a friend :D

Thanks, I didn't know that, If baiting is legal, go for it!! it's just not for me, I have hunted most of my life (I'm halfway thru my 70's) didn't always get a deer, but always enjoyed the hunt. taken some nice ones, I have taken some not so nice ones but I hunted them all, my fondest memory is a small buck in Norther MN. It's the hunt, not the hunted.

It is legal here. Hasn’t always been. My best memories are hunting with my dad growing up. No bait. Shot my first one at the age of 15 at 11:15 am from dad’s tree stand with one of his shotguns. He was in another stand. That was 1990 and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Now I’m making memories with my kids, they love helping put corn out :D

Well hoping either me or charleigh or Jess at least bust a doe this weekend so I can try and figure out where a buck worth hunting is hanging out. Gonna try and pick up some Hornsby gmx for the .223. A guy on Reddit comment on my post of charleigh and said he had just shot one that dropped (lung/heart shot) and the bullet went all the way through. I watched a gel test when it got 21" of penetration with 55 gr and expanded to like .4" so anything that big or bigger I can find should at least leave a little blood if we need to track one... Which was my main concern from the start... Good luck finding .223 ammo right now though lol
