I've had this truck since it had 3300 miles on it. It has always had these issues, and I knew they were manufacturer issues. I have been busy so I haven't taken it to the dealer to see what crap they're going to say. So guess what?! It's time to annoy the dealer rep to get a new driveshaft, and see what they will do about the passenger side window whistle. I looked at threads on here and couldn't find much, but please point me to the right way. Its a straight up air problem where if you stick you hand out the window in between the mirror and the truck it stops.

As far as the driveshaft, they just didn't do a good job! It only happens when I tow trailers, but that's not right! A newer truck vibrating like that shouldn't feel horrible. The clutch creaking has a TSS already, so that should be easy. I'm at 35K now, so I want to do all this before I hit the 36K mark just in case.

I feel your pain and had a few quirks with my 17 Sport, manual. I never had the wind squealing but on occasion had to deal with the clutch peddle squeak and learned not to accept some tech getting under the dash and spraying some smelly shit all over under there that only worked for a few days and by the time the smell was gone, the squeak was back. I would have to go back and have some other tech say the wrong shit was used and would go under there again and spray something else. That lasted a little longer like a few weeks and the squeak was back. They then replaced the peddle under some TSB. (I’ll come back to this point of “they look for a TSB to do anything substantial.”

I also had a low speed vibration at around 50klm/h or so and I read the TSB given to the driveshafts in automatics but non for manuals. The symptoms were the same but the shop manager at CharlesGlen Toyota, Calgary would always go to the screen to look for a TSB and month after month after fricken month the manager would say, “there’s no TSB” and do nothing. They taught me to hate having to go to them for anything.
I then went above him to the quality assurance manager and he had at least listened to my issue and said “leave it with me”, he would take my issue to Toyota. Long story short, i asked him every month for 10 long months what Toyota was doing for me. He said every month “I’m on it, leave it with me”. At 10 months, he finally said to me “I have to live with it, Toyota refuses to replace the driveshaft.” They again taught me to hate going in to them for help.
I then emailed corporate and their response was “THERE DOESNT NEED TO BE A TSB if something isn’t right. We stand behind our shop managers 100% to diagnose and make the right recommendations and decisions for repairs”.
I informed the Quality Assurance Manager the ball has always been in his court to diagnose and fix the problem! I refused to live with it.
It was about 2 days later I had an appointment to replace the driveshaft.
OP and everyone else reading this:
    1. ...there is no need to have a TSB to have a problem diagnosed and repaired under warranty, PERIOD.
I don’t have my truck anymore as I wrote it off last month but would I do this process again with the new truck I have coming??? Not with CharlesGlen, they taught me to stay away and buy my Pro from another dealer. The new dealer would get one chance to get it right. If they prove to me they are lazy with my truck, I will fix the issues myself.
I would take the truck to a drive line specialist to put the truck up on their rollers and diagnose what is causing the vibration and deal with the recommendation and bypass all the bullshit guessing and time wasted on multiple trips into the dealership.

Coming from working as a car salesman when I was younger, I know exactly what your talking about. I also know what the service writer's job is, and I also know when to go to the regional rep, and then to the corporation. It is so horrible that they don't stand anymore, and I always HATE going to dealers. I do all my own work, and when I do go to dealers I let them know right away I mean business and how much trouble it will be if they skirt around doing what is right. We'll see how this guy reacts to my no games being played attitude on Monday. I like your idea of going to a drivetrain specialist, and I can use them just to diagnose how there IS a manufacturer defect.

I'm from Massachusetts. They call us Massoholes. That's for a reason. If you do me wrong then you have it coming. The window whistle issue will be a diagnosis from a autobody shop before I get there. The driveshaft will be another deal where it will have to be approved before they do anything.

I was about to pull the trigger and just have the driveline company pinpoint the problem and pay about $300CAD for that diagnosis. Taking the stand point that I was going to find out myself where this vibration was coming from, if I was to guess and replace everything from cv axels, diff drop, carrier bearing drop, diff angles, front shaft ujoints, rims, tires ..etc etc. ...$300 to have a specialist just tell you is worth it.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Loco - I'm from CT close to the MA border. I'm with you on issues like this. When the dust settles and my '21 Taco is sitting in my yard, I'll share the 6 month long story about how it came to be - and that's just the sales side of things. Of course, I only get serious with the sales team about every 6-8 years. They hate it.
As far as the shop & parts go, I have a 40+ year relationship with this dealer and have fostered some very empathetic relationships with those 2 groups.
Doesn't always help with Toyota's list price on parts, but at least they treat me good when it really matters.

The dealership was easy with the clutch and mirror whistle noise, but have to bring it back once they have the parts. The mirror they are just going to deal with it however they need to. Now the Drivetrain Vibration Under Load is a different deal. The mechanic said it’s just a manual transmission Tacoma thing and his truck did it and he put override springs on it to fix the issue. I’m not ok with that. I’m writing the owner of the dealership letting him know and also going to do what’s discussed here and take it to a specialist. I’ll get it diagnosed. Then have Toyota deal with it.

How did they end up fixing your mirror whistling? Mine is so annoying on the driver side that I have to keep my window shut.

Sorry for the late response. Work is pretty busy right now. So my local dealership is willing to swap mirrors from a different truck to fix the problem. But they are willing to do that, and I'm scheduled to go back in January since they are so busy. I'll let you know when its done.
